Tylenol Severe Cold Multi-Symptom Review

Almost everyone gets at least one cold every year. It is a sickness that plagues us all and is easily treatable with certain rest, drinking fluids, and some products. Keep in mind that products do not really treat the actual cold; they just help you cope with the symptoms. There are many cold and flu remedies out there that do work. One of these that I have recently discovered is Tylenol Severe Cold Multi-Symptom. This is a product that I purchased when my husband had a cold this year. I decided to buy the product while we were visiting his dad. We had gone to the Dollar General in Eufaula, Oklahoma to pick up something that would help get him feeling better. We purchased this product because it had many ingredients that would help him feel better. It contains Acetaminophen, which is the regular ingredient in Tylenol, Phenylephrine HCL, Dextromethorphan HBr, and Guaifenesin. Each of this has a different symptom that it treats. The Acetaminophen will reduce a fever and help with the pain of a sore throat. The Phenylephrine HCL is a nasal decongestant, and I am going to add here that it doesn't work as well as pseudoephedrine. Dextromethorphan HBr is a cough suppressant and the Guaifenesin is an expectorant. It will actually make you start coughing up the stuff you need to get out of your lungs.

We purchased the product and he started taking it when we arrived back at his dad's house. You are supposed to take two caplets every four hours. He took the first dose and didn't really notice much of a difference at all. He continued to take the medication for a few days and decided to discontinue use because it was not really helping relieve the symptoms. I agreed with him that it wasn't working when he continued to have a fever and it never really even made it go down.

I have to say that I have tried this product too with the same crappy results. This is not a good product. You would think that it would at least help in one way, but it doesn't. What I want to know is why they combine an expectorant with a cough suppressant. It isn't good to take both because the phlegm is breaking lose and then you aren't coughing it up. This will just make you sicker. This is not a product that I suggest. If you want to see for yourself, try it the next time you have a cold. You will notice that it really won't help you at all. You can do better by just taking regular Tylenol!
