Tyler Perry Takes 'Creative Steps' to Disney World
After Being Snubbed by the Valley Club in Huntingdon Valley, Tyler Perry is Flying All 65 to Disney World
On June 29th, the Creative Steps day care center in suburban Philadelphia headed off to enjoy a nice day of swimming at the Valley Swim Club in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. They had already pre-paid for the membership privilege of using the club, and now on a hot day in June, all of the kids were excited at the chance to enjoy a nice pool at a great facility. The problems started as soon as the kids arrived, and while different versions of what happened next are floating around, including that one club member made a comment about the race of the kids, and that several (or all) of the other people left the pool area when Creative Steps arrived.
Whether the issue was race related or not, the Valley Swim Club suddenly revoked the membership that Creative Steps had already paid for, and would not allow them to stay at the club. The club tried to save face by offering a full refund of the membership, and more recently has been rumored to have invited the kids back to the club as well. Creative Steps had denoted that they would be pursuing a federal civil rights law suit against the swimming club, and some have assumed that this is the only reason that the Valley Swim Club invited them to come back. It seems like too little, too late to make people viewing what is taking place, but rather than pick sides, Tyler Perry has decided to take a different route to see that the kids of Creative Steps have an enjoyable time this summer.
Tyler Perry is most notable for the films he has created including Medea Goes to Jail, and the two sitcoms that he has on TBS right now. He has found a lot of success in the industry, and now he is really giving something great back to the community. Not only is Tyler Perry paying for the airfare to fly the kids to Disney World, he is also paying for their food, accommodations, and admissions for a three-day visit. All 65 kids will be able to enjoy a great time at Disney World, and it is all thanks to a really stand-up guy that cares more about the happiness of these kids than about trying to get involved in the politics of the situation.
