Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married

A Movie Every Couple Should See

QUICHE
Starring: Tyler Perry, Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Michael Jai White, Tasha Smith

Tyler Perry is known for his Madea plays, but now becoming more well known for his films. His current film "Why Did I Get Married" does not feature Madea at all, nor did his previous film "Daddy's Little Girls", but you don't miss her at all. This movie is a must see for any couple, whether you've been married for years or just starting a new relationship. There is something in this movie for everyone, and there is also a possibility that after you see this film; you will gain a whole new perspective of your marriage. Now let me introduce you to the couples:

Gavin & Patricia - The perfect couple who are dealing with a terrible loss; trying to make it through.
Diane & Terry - She is a workaholic who can't seem to find time for her family. He is a man who loves his wife and just wants to spend more time with her.
Angela & Marcus- A successful entrepreneur with alcohol dependency issues, who has no problem saying what's on her mind. Her husband is a man who is trying to do the best he can, but Angela doesn't respect him.
Sheila & Mike - Loving wife who just wants her marriage to work. A chauvinistic husband who down grades his wife every chance he can.

Every year the four couples pick a destination for a week long retreat; while there they discuss things that are going on in their marriages and try to work them out. This year it gets very troublesome and the couples find out things about their spouses that gives them a different outlook. Of course I wouldn't want to give too much of the film away; let me just say that in the end things are as they should be.

In my opinion this is the greatest movie by Tyler Perry hands down; he could not have done it better if you asked him too. This film shows the heartache, struggle, happiness and betrayals of marriages. It shows that what looks good on the outside always isn't, and what may seem bad works out for the individuals involved. Another thing I learned from this film is, just because someone belittles you and acts as if you are a nuisance to them there is always that one person who sees you as a treasure. If you don't love yourself how in the world could anyone else love you? Marriage is about compromise and if only one half of the couple is willing to do the work then the marriage is bound to fail.

There were moments in the film that made me laugh, cry, but mostly made me think. I will definitely be purchasing it as soon as it hits the stores on DVD. Those of you who have not seen it please do so before a friend spoils it for you.
