Types of Accountants

Accounting is goes much deeper than just doing taxes and financial statements. The role of managerial accounting is to provide strategic planning, operations, performance evaluations and management decision making. (Atkinson, Kaplan, and Young, 2004, pg 3). The main difference between Management accounting and financial accounting is that financial accounting is historical data, where are management accounting plans for the future.

I have searched the internet to give you a few examples of types of accounting jobs you can expect to find. As you can see cost accountants collect data, then analysis the financial information so that mangers can make good decisions. Insurance companies use accountants to process insurance claims and to improve their internal systems. Even the government uses accountants to oversee projects to ensure they do not go over budget.
