Some people live most of their lives in fear of something, while others do their very best to live in the moment of danger. Are some of us just afraid of everything, or are there other forces at work in the mind?
In the early stages of childhood you were taught what to do, and also what not to do. These years play a big part in categorizing your perception of reality. Have you grown up with a fear of spiders, or are you just afraid of heights? Maybe the thought of just standing out in a crowd is what scares the daylights out of you. Whatever the fear is, there is also a reaction which can help to sooth the savage beast of fear.
The mind is the strongest muscle we have, and yet it's sometimes used to: belittle, embarrass, scare, and intimidate us beyond control. Living with an overactive mind can sometimes be a demanding job, if the third dimensional mind is left alone to manifest hundreds of destructive thoughts.
Listed below are several types of fears, along with the emotional and physical dangers than can result when emotions are left to run rampant. Each type of fear is just as unique as the mind where it all began. Additional information about fear can be obtained at www.wikihow.com/Overcome-Fear- .
External fear
This type of fear mostly consists of phobias which are usually brought on from negative past experiences. For example; a fear of heights might be brought on from a fall as a young child. Although the fall might not be remembered, the fear itself is definitely a reality. As a young child our only fears were of falling and loud noises, because these fears were the things that startled us the most.
If these fears are not conquered by another positive experience, they sometimes remain in the mind the rest of your life. Getting beyond these phobias takes a lot of hard work with: "baby steps," in very small doses.
Other external fears are worries of: death, separation, success, injury, vulnerability, and self separation. Getting past these fears requires the ability and the courage to face them all one by one. Each fear is quite unique, and requires constant attempts to overcome them.
Internal fear
This is an emotion which links negativity with our sense of self. Now is when the mind and ego match wits for control. One example of internal fear is low self esteem. When our sense of self is threatened, the ego kicks in and continues to remind us of these useless thoughts endlessly.
Awareness of fear keeps the mind alert and ready for danger; most of the time this type of danger never happens. This could be considered a false fear reality; a place where fear exists, but never really happens. This is just the type of mental game where the mind and the ego are the masters.
Low self esteem is sometimes brought on from failures from the past, or even a bad childhood environment. Lack of confidence is now beginning to co-exist with the sense of self. Insecurity and a loss of connection manifest emotions in the mind such as: failure, self doubt, rejection, which also translates into low self esteem.
Emotional criticism in the early childhood years is one of the worst emotional acts that can be done to a child. Unbalanced punishment in the early childhood years can later manifest such emotions as failure, a lack of self expression, vulnerability, and other destructive emotions.
Mental or subconscious fears
This type of fear is possibly the worst fear of all. Now that the mind and the subconscious have accepted certain emotional fears as normal, we then blindly follow in the footsteps of the mind and the subconscious.
Subconscious fears are manifested from past experiences. They're also motivated to avoid certain situations which direct our personal actions in the future. Personal and physical changes are now avoided for fear of what might happen if change arises. Living with this emotional state usually increases paranoia and anxiety.
With a limited belief system, our future endeavors are now limited by thoughts of fear. Now you're only allowed to prosper in ways that you believe you deserve. All of these thoughts are engineered again by our old friend the ego. Getting beyond the ego and the sense of self requires a lot of determination, and also a strong desire to overcome these emotions. Listed below are some of the dangers which can result from fear.
Behavior and emotional changes
Living in a state of fear creates many physical and emotional changes throughout our lives. Emotional behavior has been changed due to the fear of what might happen. No longer able to come and go as you please this destructive emotion now controls your actions, and also most of your thoughts.
The once free personality has now been changed due to mental stress which dominates the mind. A hopeless sense of self has also been thrown into the mental picture to cloud the perception of reality even more.
Creativity and mental freedom are now a thing of the past, because the mind is filled with continuous fear based thought patterns. Emotions such as love and compassion are almost non-existent in the mind. Now, the only thing concerning our thoughts is which destructive emotion to focus on next.
Most overactive minds suffer from some form of anxiety. Fear and worry are the most dominating thoughts in these types of minds. Excessive types of stimulation such as caffeine and overworking also helps to increase anxiety even more.
Increased mental activity helps to over stimulate the mind almost to the breaking point as the heart begins to race. Now the mind is in double overtime as it tries to ration out all of the excessive thoughts, and file them away somewhere; but with anxiety they just don't seem to fade away.
Blood pressure is raised as stress begins to dominate the nervous system. As the heart begins to beat even faster more thoughts enter the mind with nowhere to go, now a panic attack is ready to take place. Fear is the main culprit in this disorder.
One of the leading causes of suicide is depression along with both physical and mental abuse. Endless fear based emotions rule the mind in a never ending battle of wits. Finally the mind begins to weaken under the strain and depression slowly begins to take control.
No sense of relief or hope can be felt when depression takes over. Endless fear based emotions constantly engage the mind in a never ending battle for control. Even simple thoughts of facing another day increase the level of depression even more.
In cases of clinical depression medication seems to be the only hope for salvation. Living with depression is like living in a world with no hope of happiness or joy in sight. The mind is filled with thoughts of worry and despair as these destructive thought patterns work overtime.
Stress, heart-attack, and death
Of course this is the final battle where fear wins the war. As stress dominates the mind the heart is working excessively with each beat. Soon the mind and the body are ready to give up. For years stress has taken its toll on the mind and body, and in time stress eventually wins.
Stress is one of the contributing factors of heart attacks today. In stressful situations adrenaline is released into the blood system. This type of hormone raises the blood pressure which increases the chances of clotting in the blood system.
Raised blood pressure can injure the linings of the arteries in the heart. Although everyone deals with stress differently, studies have not yet concluded the results of stress and its condition on the heart itself.
How to conquer most fears:
The trick to conquering most fears of course lies in the mind. But, isn't that where fear came from in the first place? Of course it is, and that's exactly the first place to start. But, before you try to conquer fear the first thing required is a strong desire to overcome your inner most fears. Here are several ways to fight fear before it begins to take control of your life.
1. Face your fears in small doses.
One way to rid yourself of some of your fears is to meet them head on. If you're suffering from an internal fear embrace the fear and learn to love yourself. Love is the opposite emotion of fear, and is also a very powerful.
Have the courage to face your fear in small healthy doses. After a while the level of fear you face will be determined by your emotional outlook. The more you learn to face your fears the less fearful these thoughts become.
2. Talk with other people.
Sometimes a fresh new outlook on your situation can be very helpful. Listening and also taking about your fears and worries brings these emotions out into the open. No longer are they "hidden" from view, but are now open for discussion. The ability to voice your opinions "out loud" on these destructive emotions are very therapeutic when it comes to the subconscious mind and the ego.
This verbal communication is sometimes all which is needed for some of these fears to be swept under the emotional rug. New ideas on how to deal with certain fears can also be obtained from listening to others who are in the same emotional boat.
3. Write about your fears.
Another way to get your fears out in the open is to write about them. As you write down these fears in a poem or even in a fiction based story you begin to understand these emotions in a different light.
Even written affirmations such as: I will fear nothing today, or fear will not rule my emotions, can sometimes also help to re-program the subconscious mind. Dealing with your fears creatively is a lot easier than experiencing them in real life. Who knows what the mind can do when creativity and the intellect begin to productively work together.
4. Accept your fear.
Acceptance is the key to most emotional problems in life. The ability to recognize and accept things as they are sometimes provides a new mental outlook on the situation. Maybe with some fears all that's needed is to accept that they actually exist.
Don't keep your inner feelings inside the mind to deal with on a mental basis, put them out into the universe and see what happens to them when they're released. Maybe they're just hanging around until they're acknowledged and dealt with. Accept them for what they are, and move on with your life.
5. Reprogram the mind.
The third dimensional mind is a super computer which excels in problem solving; so make good use of it. Learn to be mentally aware of your thoughts, and filter out the bad thoughts the moment they enter the mind. Don't let fear have time to duplicate itself in the mind. Immediately throw out these destructive thought patterns as soon as they enter the mind.
Listen to the thoughts which enter the mind. Most of these thoughts are about regrets from the past, or worries about the future. Both of these thoughts seem to dominate the mind, and both types of these thoughts are also useless. We can't change what was done in the past, and we also can't change the future by worrying about it.
If your mind still wants to work overtime, then provide it with some brand new material to think about. When thoughts of fear enter the mind replace them with creative thoughts, or positive thought patterns. After a lot of mental work your mind will begin to filter the thoughts which dominate it; now you're cooking with oil.
With the ability to recognize destructive thoughts the subconscious and the ego are recognized for what they are. Most of these fear thoughts are all about our personal self preservation, which is our number one fear.
Now that you've learned to recognize, face, and understand your fears, most of them seem like a distant shadow from the past. The rest of your life waits as you begin to see the world in a new light. Your perception is now clear and precise as the future begins to embrace your inner most feelings, and also your personal desires.
