Types of Jobs in Virtual Worlds

Looking to obtain a job in a virtual world can be a very interesting situation for many people. However, trying to determine if it is the right option for you is important before you start looking to find employment. Just realize, that working in a virtual world is certainly not the right choice for everyone and you could quickly find yourself dealing with an unpleasant situation that you are not prepared to deal with.

Getting a job in a virtual world can be a great number of tasks, from hosts, to sales, to real estate, to even running your own store; there are so many things that are important to getting a well paying job and actually finding the employment that you desire. If you are looking to earn a full time income, you will typically find that it is much harder to do, however there are still plenty of ways in which you can generate a nice income from the ability to work only part time. Most people who do earn top wages as virtual world employees work for either a major company within the world, or own their own business.

Typically, if you are looking to get a job with a major company in the virtual world it is going to offer a very slow promotional track. This is important because most people like to know that promotion opportunities are available if they work hard. With a virtual world it is much harder to know who to trust, and this often results in employers being much less likely to hand out promotions.

You will find that sculptors, customer service staff, and even sales staff are some of the most common areas in which you can find a full time replacement income. However, these are far from the only options. With many landowners having major companies, it is possible to still acquire a rather significant income just from working in the land markets as well. This however, is not something that is suitable for everyone since there are many different factors that heavily impact the market prices. If you are skilled at selling though, there are plenty of opportunities to still earn a significant income this way.

Regardless of where your skills lie, businesses are always looking to hire well-trained people even in the virtual world. The biggest benefit of working in a virtual world is you have the opportunity to work with a company that is perhaps located overseas that would not otherwise have the ability to hire you based on geographic location.

Thanks for this very timely article. I have a neighbor who does import and export trading in the virtual world. It sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing.
