Typhoon Ketsana Hits Some Cities in the Philippines

Imus, Cavite, Philippines -- It was typhoon Ketsana -- locally known as "Ondoy" -- that left more than a hundred dead or missing and forced thousands to stay at relief operations centers. The rain started to pour approximately in the morning of September 27 until the next day, which made the flood rise to a higher level quickly.

There were many people who decided to stay on the rooftop of their houses as the flood water rose while their belongings started to float. Many buildings, establishments, animals, cars and other things were destroyed due to Typhoon Ketsana. Classes of students in Metro Manila schools were suspended on Monday as the rescue operations continued. Due to the calamity, various people from the government, non-governmental organizations, entertainment, youth organizations and ordinary citizens helped each other and aided the victims of the storm.

According to mb.com.ph, the worst flood hit Marikina City, Rizal, part of Pasig City, part of Quezon City, and others areas, leaving people from all walks of life stranded in their homes as the water rose. Pep.ph reported that Hollywood stars and international personalities, like Demi Moore, Alyssa Milano, Josh Groban, Ashton Kutcher, Marie Digby, Demi Lovato, Paris Hilton, Ricky Martin, former M2M singer Marion Raven, singer-guitarist Michelle Branch, and Fall out Boy's Pete Wentz, author Paulo Coelho helped inform fellow Americans and their friends to assist victims of Ketsana.

There were many relief goods that were distributed to various evacuation centers or relief operation areas already due to the efforts of several people. Local stars also gave their valuable time, resources and efforts just to help the victims of the storm as well as their stranded friends. Local show business personalities like Gerald Anderson, Cesar Montano, Willie Revillame, Jericho Rosales, Judy Ann Santos, Richard Gutierrez, Ryan Agoncillo, Kc Conception, and many others rendered help to the victims of the killer typhoon.
