Typical Pop Song

Another Power Pop Hit!

David Carr
I'm gonna write
A typical pop song
And I'll talk about
My thoughts of you

I'll fill the verses
With a hundred clichés
Some will be lies
Others will be true

The bridge will speak of
How things went wrong
And how I never
Really found out why

And then the chorus
Will fill the air
With a million different ways
You can say goodbye

A radio friendly tune
That tells a story
Of some of the moments we had

It's gonna be
A typical pop song
And I know it won't be that bad

The melody will remind you
Of the times and places
We used to share

And hopefully, the harmonies
Will make you sad
When I'm not there

Yeah, it's just a typical pop song
It's nothing special
And the words won't rhyme

It's a silly typical pop song
With verses about flowers in bloom
Yet another typical pop song
Written about my time spent with you...
