The Tyra Banks Show Will End After Just Five Seasons

Tyra Banks has announced today that she is ending her talk show after just five years of being on the air. The Tyra Banks show has won two Emmy Awards, in 2008 and 2009 for "Outstanding Talk Show Informative" category. It was just recently that Oprah shocked her fans by announcing that she is also ending her wildly popular "The Oprah Winfrey Show". And now audiences are losing the girl-powered Trya Banks Show.

Tyra Banks stated, "This will be the last season of 'The Tyra Show.' I've been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past five years." The Tyra Banks show premiered on September 12th, 2005 in Los Angeles in front of a live audience. It replaced the cancelled Ricki Lake show. By 2007 The Tyra Banks show had impressive ratings and the show was moved to the Chelsea Studios in New York City.

The Tyra Banks Show is also shown in many countries, not just the United States and Canada. And it is also made available in the US and Canada on XM Satellite Radio's Take Five channel. So the show has a large and loyal following.

Tyra Banks has focused on empowering women with the topics that she has selected over the years and has made herself somewhat of a role model for females across the age spectrum. She has also used her show to strike back at critics at times. She appeared in a bathing suit on one famous episode after she had been criticized for gaining weight. Tyra wants women to feel comfortable in their own skin and with who they are.

It is reported that Tyra Banks now wants to focus on her production company, named Bankable Productions. Her goal is to bring "positive images of women to the big screen." This is a very admirable ambition from a very beautiful and intelligent woman. Tyra Banks will also continue her work on another hit show "America's Next Top Model," which is heading into its 14th season on the air.

The opinions on the Internet seem to be varied. Such as Devon who wrote, "Wow! This comes as a shock! I commend Tyra for stepping out and continually challenging herself and going for her dreams. She is a true inspiration and her talk show will be missed!" But others like CMD say that, "Tyra's sound bite for ending the show is spin. Apparently, the networks did not pick up her show. I like Tyra as a person, but I did not like her show."

Whatever the real story is, we all wish Tyra Banks the best as we head into 2010.
