U2 - the Joshua Tree, Album of the Year 1987

Released in 1987, The Joshua Tree is considered by many to be the best U2 album.
Produced by Brian Eno and Steve Lillywhite, the Joshua Tree was recorded at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin, Ireland.
The album featured three best selling singles, 'With Or Without You', 'Where The Streets Have No Name', and 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For'.
Also, the album won the band a few Grammy awards and catapulted them with international success and critical acclaim. The album won Grammy album of the year in 1988.
The Joshua Tree album cover was shot in the desert of California and much of the album alludes to America, the blues, and U.S. involvement in Central America.
Since its release, The album has sold over twenty five million copies and, it was recently re-mastered with bonus tracks recorded during the Joshua Tree sessions. The album was the number one album in the United Staes for two months in 1987.
