Ubisoft Unveils Adult Party Video Game with "We Dare"

Some things are great on their own like peanut butter and pizza. But put the two together and the result is less than appealing. I learned how bad peanut butter was on pizza the hard way during grade school. "Sexy" and "mini games" are arguably great words on their own. But thanks to Ubisoft's "We Dare" video game, we now have a chance to see what happens when you put the two together.

The trailer for "We Dare" features two adult couples engaged on the Wii-the game is also slated for a PlayStation Move port-as they play a few competitive mini games. The unique Wii-mote waggling gimmick for this game requires players to get into flirtatious and borderline randy behavior. The Wii-mote is dangled and serves as an apple for couples to "nibble" on as their lips bump against it. There's a spanking mini game that is used for navigating a carpet ride. And even a striptease mini game is shown in the trailer. At the very least, Ubisoft is demonstrating that not all mini games have to be for kids.

The concept of adult party games is nothing new whether it is the mild truth or dare from middle school, the beer pong from college, or the strip poker from whenever I could find enough hot girls lacking inhibitions as well as knowledge in poker hands. The games can be fun when best played in their elements.

But turning to a video game for such adult party game antics has a few awkward moments. One can imagine the embarrassment after the party when you wake up to seeing your kid booting up "We Dare" and starting to gyrate before realizing that he/she isn't "Mario Party." The marketing behind the video seem to be out of touch with the gamer audience. Apparently the guys shown in the video is what Ubisoft thinks the average male gamer looks like. And there is just something bizarre about thinking that a series of flirtatious mini games will lead up to a night of sex-group or homoerotic as the ad's endings indicate. I have yet to see a night of "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" playing lead to partying players beating each other up on the streets...

Except when players use Sentinel.
