Matt Riddle vs Greg Soto
I know right, who? An otherwise boring fight between two unknown fighters. If you are a fan, I apologize, but I tell it like it is. The most signifigant strike in this fight was an illegal upkick by Soto while Riddle is sitting on the canvas. Riddle win by disqualification and Soto goes home probably never to fight in the UFC again. I don't think Dana White will deal with a boring fighter who fights illegally during a Pay Per View fight.
winner- Matt Riddle
Rodney Wallace vs. Jarrad Hamman
This fight was a much better fight. Both fighters came to fight. Hamman is the aggressor throughout the fight and wins the fight by unanimous decision. Hamman looked pretty good throughout the fight. Pummeling Wallace in all three rounds. Wallace fought back, but I don't believe he has the talent to consistently win in the UFC. This is his second loss in a row against worthy. I haven't decided on Hamman yet. Although he is a knockout artist, he didn't get a knockout in this fight. He looked pretty good, but time will tell us if he will continue winning big against the top guys in the UFC's very talented light heavyweight division. In this fight, he looked good, and earned fight of the night honors. This was a very exciting fight for the two young fighters.
Rousimar "Toquino" Palhares vs.Tomasz "Gorilla" Drwal
Had to give you nicknames because this fight was fast. Rousimar put the gorilla in a leglock, the gorilla screamed, and the fight was over. Rousimar wins by submission. "Toquino" is a great submission fighter and a consistent. Thought the "Gorilla" was better, but this is mixed martial arts. I have no opinion on either of these fighters yet. They both seem to be pretty good UFC fighters who will be around for quite some time. Although if the "Gorilla" spends too much time screaming, Dana White might eventually send him home.
Matt Brown vs.Ricardo Almeida
Almeida is a pretty exciting fighter. He controlled most of the action in this fight, although there really was not enough action. He eventually hit Brown with an elbow, gets to Brown's back, secures a body triangle, and snugs in the rear naked choke. Tap out. Almeida wins. Not an exciting fight, but it's a good win for Almeida. I'm not too excited about Matt Brown and have not made up my mind whether i'm a great fan of Almeida's yet. He's a good fightet, but I don't like the boring fights. We watch UFC for its constant action. That's why we love it.
Thank you UFC, now we get to the real fights
Nate Diaz vs Rory Markham
This fight was quick, but full of action. Markham was ready to throw, but spent this short fight catching everything Nate Diaz threw at him. Diaz hits Markham with punches, a kick, a nice knee, and jumps on his back. Flattens Markham out and pounds him viciously with both fists. The ref has to jump in and stop the fight. Diaz wins. Diaz hasn't been consistent lately, but he fights everybody, and always gives his best effort. Diaz seems to be a cool kid and I am a fan. Regardless of his attitude and the constant use of his middle finger. This was a good win for him. Markham is a decent fighter, but fails to completely compete in this division. The UFC is too talented. Go get some more gym work Rory.
Jim Miller vs. Mark Bocek
This was a good competitive fight. Both fighters fought well and were exciting. Knees and fists were flying all over the place. Both fighters landed and caught plenty of shots. Very enjoyable fight. Could have been a draw or gone to either fighter. Judges give the fight to Miller. It looks like a rematch may be in the works. Thanks for fighting guys. We love the UFC when fighters like (the two of you) really fight.
John Fitch vs Ben Saunders
This fight was a mismatch from the start. John Fitch dominates the fight and shows he is by far better than Ben Saunders. I am a John Fitch fan. He always comes to fight and gives all in every win or defeat. I'm glas the UFC is filled with fighters like Fitch. Congrads Fitch on another great win.
Kurt Pellegrino vs.Fabricio Camoes
another mismatch folks. Camoes tried to defend Pellegrino for two rounds, but Pellegrino was relentless and finally locks in the rear naked choke near the end of round 2. It was a good chess match for a little while, but Pellegrino was too much. Not really a fan, but keep fighting like this, and I might be. Pellegrino is a good fighter bordering on greatness. I hope to see him turn the corner.
Frank Mir vs Shane Corwin
wow. Didn't see this one coming. Corwin really gave Mir a beating and ends the fight in the first round. This is a big set back for Mir. He doesn't seem to have it all back since his accident. I'm a fan of Mir and now a fan of Corwin. Congrats Corwin, what a great fight. A quick, but exciting matchup for us true UFC fans.
George St. Pierre vs Dan Hardy
I'm not a fan of either fighter. Both are great, but not a fan. Men don't like St. Pierre too much although most women love him. He is talented and he showed up again for this fight. The best way to say it is St. Pierre schooled Hardy in the art of mixed martial arts for five championship rounds. Hardy was fair game, but was just not good enough for St. Pierre's relentless attack. St. Pierre is one of the most talented fighters in the UFC. It's a shame I don't like him and his fights bore me. Good job St. Pierre. Would you lose once in awhile. It may make your UFC fights a little more interesting to me.
These are UFC 111 official results. This was not the best card I have watched as a UFC fan. Not complaining, but not that excited. Maybe i'm just disappointed Mir got another beat down. At least now, I can get ready to watch another season of the Ultimate Fighter. I'll let you know how this new season will turn out.
