UFC 118 Results Couture Vs. James Toney

Boxing Vs. MMA, Who Wins?

At UFC 118, the results for the Couture vs. James Toney were very unsurprising for most fans of boxing and MMA.

The boxing vs. MMA showdown was held under MMA rules which gave Couture a big advantage in facing the one-dimensional Toney.

Because of the many tools at Couture's disposal, the former UFC champion ended up winning by arm triangle in the first round.

Couture got a low, easy takedown and then worked his way into position while the bigger Toney mostly lay motionless on the mat.

He didn't put up much resistance because he didn't know what to do on the ground and Couture took advantage of him.

The result of the UFC 118 Couture vs. James Toney fight took a bit longer than expected to come up with as Couture finished the fight at 3:19 of the first round.

But Couture dominated and erased the memory of Ray Mercer's win over Tim Sylvia in an off-the-beaten path MMA fight a while back.

MMA and boxing should now be referred to as separate sports and not sports that are in competition with each other.

Although it's fun to talk about which one is better, the fact of the matter is that boxing is just one part of MMA and not the whole thing.

The fight brought out the best in Couture and Toney's future is now uncertain.

But the UFC 118 Couture vs. James Toney result is one fans will remember for a long time.
