Torres, who is still a force in MMA with a 38-3 record, out-pointed Antonio Banuelos to take home a decision win at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas in the early action.
It was the first fight on the main card of UFC 126. During the fight, Torres used his 13-inch reach advantage, a staggering number, to stay on the outside of the much smaller Buenelos.
He jabbed him and landed a few good body shots including a kick and got out of the fight relatively unscathed, winning by a score of 30-27 on all three judges' scorecards.
Banuelos, the loser in the UFC 126 early results, was unable to land much but he did wade in bravely and threw caution to the wind a few times. The crowd still wasn't impressed and ultimately ended up booing a little bit.
Torres knows he'll have another chance to showcase his skills but it won't be easy going forward. The former bantamweight champ in the WEC might find the going a little bit tougher as he continues to fight better competition and likely bigger fighters in the future.
But for now, the UFC 126 result is in the favor of Torres, who has bigger and better things to move onto in the UFC.
