UFC 126 Result: New Title Shot Announced!

The UFC 126 results are in except for the two main events of the evening, and a new title shot has been awarded.

That distinction will go to Jon Jones, who choked out Ryan Bader in the second round of action in Las Vegas.

Jone "Bones" Jones survived an early guillotine choke attempt by Bader, a former Ultimate Fighter winner, He started to turn the tide in his favor immediately using superior positioning and eventually taking control.

Eventually he locked in a choke on the ground from the front position in the second round and ended up winning over Bader, who seemed fairly tired after the first round.

The UFC 126 result was not shocking to anyone as Bader was a solid underdog despite his undefeated record.

Bader was unable to use his wrestling prowess on the night; Jones is a fine wrestler in his own right and was able to stuff the takedowns..

The next challenge for Jones? A title shot against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at 205. Rua jumped into the Octagon and talked a bit with Joe Rogan.

Rogan had offered the title shot to Jones who accepted and seemed overjoyed. Is it too soon for Jones?

Not necessarily because his astronomical talent trumps his youth.

The UFC 126 results certainly bear that out for Mr. Jones, who has a shot at the light heavyweight championship now against the superstar Rua.
