The UFC 126 results have been highly anticipated, perhaps even more so than a typical event. That's because the UFC 126 fight card was completely stacked. Not only were there big names in the sport, and a champion like Anderson Silva who is in his prime and considered the pound for pound best fighter in the sport, but there were loads of exciting and meaningful contests. That's a big win for the fans, and the event generated tons of buzz in the weeks leading up.

Right here you will be able to find live UFC 126 results, as soon as the fights are finished up in this exciting evening of MMA. Even for a boxing fan such as myself, tonight was not a time for boxing news, it was all about MMA.

Live UFC 126 Results

Silva vs. Belfort Results: Anderson Silva knocked out Vitor Belfort at 3:25 of the first round via a front kick to the face. The first two and a half minutes of the fight saw absolutely nothing happen. Belfort finally opened up, and Silva, the classic counter-striker, opened up in turn. After a few back-and-forth engagements, Silva unleashed a lightning quick front kick that landed directly at the tip of Belfort's chin, sending him half-unconscious to the canvas. Silva jumped on to throw a few punches, but the referee was already coming in to call if off.

Just another day in the office for Silva. For 150 seconds, the fight was what all of Silva's critics rally against him for. And the next 60 seconds were what makes Silva the best mixed martial artist to ever compete. Snap your fingers, blink your eyes, just like that, done deal.

Franklin vs. Griffin Results: Forrest Griffin defeats Rich Franklin via Unanimous Decision. All three judges had it 29-28 for Griffin. This meeting of former champions was expected to be a fight of the year type war, two guys with great track records who always put it all on the line. The fight didn't live up to those lofty expectations, but it was a good scrap between these two great fighters.

The bottom line seemed to be that Griffin was simply too big and strong for Franklin. He dominated the first round and had Franklin on his back. Franklin's stand-up game came into gear for the second and third, but Griffin closed the show with some take downs and never let Franklin dictate the action.

Jones vs. Bader Results: Jon Jones defeats Ryan Bader by guillotine choke at 4:20 of the second round. In perhaps the most anticipated bout of the evening, the Jones vs. Bader results didn't disappoint. Jones dominated the first round and nearly ended it with several submissions from a variety of controlling positions. Bader started the second round strong, but Jones got Bader back to the ground, and began working into strong positions and going for the finish. He eventually locked in the guillotine and closed the show quickly.

Bader still has a strong future in the UFC, and in the light heavyweight division. But what can you say? Jon Jones is out of this world.

JUST ANNOUNCED AFTER JONES vs. BADER RESULTS - Jon Jones will step in to face Shogun Rua for the light heavyweight championship. Rashad Evans was supposed to face Mauricio Rua, but Evans got hurt, and Jones is next up. That fight will be on March 19th from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ at UFC 128. That's less than a month and a half away, so Jones has head right back to the gym to prepare.

Ellenberger vs. Rocha Results: Jake Ellenberger defeats Carlos Rocha via Split Decision. The scorecards from the judges read 30-27 Hocha, 29-28 Ellenberger and 29-28 Ellenberger. Rocha dominated the first round with his BJJ and ground game, and nearly submitted Ellenberger several times. But the touted young welterweight turned things around with his wrestling and controlled the second two stanzas.

Torres vs. Banuelos Results: Miguel Torres defeats Antonio Banuelos by Unanimous Decision, all three judges had the fight scored 30-27. The crowd was booing throughout, and while Torres won and mostly controlled the meeting, he didn't really thrill or captivate in the way that he needed to. It wasn't that long ago that Torres was considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in MMA, but two consecutive losses can ruin that pretty quickly, and this performance didn't help to wash the memory of those away.
