UFC 131 Results: Title Shot for Kenny Florian?

The UFC 131 results are in and it appears as if Kenny "Ken Flo" Florian may be on his way to another title shot.

Florian took home a decision win against Diego Nunes at the Vancouver event that he cemented with an explosive third round after outlasting Nunes. Many had worried about Florian's strength and stamina heading into the fight with Nunes for his first bout at featherweight but he out-positioned and out-grappled the shorter Nunes en route to the win.

Florian, who has had two title shots in the past, may very well now end up getting the next title shot at featherweight against Jose Aldo once Aldo is healed.

On Saturday night at UFC 131 in Vancouver, the result for Florian was just what he needed to be able to move on. Florian, the first man to fight in four weight classes in the UFC, took home scores of 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27 over Nunes.

Florian caught a lot of boos on the night for wearing a Boston Bruins jersey to the weigh-ins while his opponent Nunes wore a Vancouver Canucks jersey, playing to the home crowd.

"That was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life," an honest Florian told Joe Rogan after the fight.

The results seemed mixed for Florian, who looked fairly skinny at 145 pounds.

"I felt alright," Florian said, noting that he had a very tough time coming back from surgery leading up to the belt.

He called Nunes a future champion but now he will have to likely fight a much tougher guy in Aldo.

Aldo and Florian might not happen, however, that remains to be seen. Florian seems to be the front-runner for the title show because there aren't a whole lot of other contenders in the division for the featherweight title who could challenge Aldo.

Florian got clipped with a big shot at the end of the Nunes fight but it wasn't enough for Nunes to take home the win and now Florian will likely have yet another shot at the belt after his UFC 131 result and a big win over Nunes.
