UFC 136 Stann Vs. Sonnen Odds Pick

Can Stann Pull the Upset?

Chael Sonnen will return for UFC 136, and he is on a card stacked with two title fights that will be a big one for casual and especially hardcore fans alike.

Sonnen will face ex-Marine Brian Stann in a fight that has people talking, with odds strongly in Sonnen's favor right now as well.

The match will be fought and won in the wrestling game because if Sonnen can take Stann down, Stann will have a hard time getting back up again at times. Stann has decent takedown defense but it was broken by Phil Davis in their fight at 205 pounds.

Sonnen is one of the best offensive wrestlers in all of MMA and he will look to prove it yet again against his opponent at UFC 136. For him to win, he will have to avoid falling into his usual trap of letting his guard down and getting submitted. That shouldn't be a huge problem in this fight however as his opponent is not much of a submission artist off his back.

Stann on the other hand, the odds underdog, has shown one-punch knockout power as he did in his last fight against Jorge Santiago. He is one of the better strikers in the division and looks reborn at middleweight. It's where he last took out feared striker Chris Leben and it looks to be where he will stay for the foreseeable future.

Many are picking the fighter/politician/trash talker extraordinaire Sonnen in this one despite a long layoff due to suspension. He is a gym rat who always comes into fights at tip-top shape and that will only help in this one.

This should be a close fight but a few key takedowns could swing momentum and the judges' scorecards easily. That means that the UFC 136 underdog Stann has his work cut out for him, and Sonnen is a strong pick to take home a win here by unanimous decision as looks forward to a potential big-money rematch with Anderson Silva despite his mediocre record inside the UFC.
