UFC 2009 Undisputed - Xbox Game Review

The UFC Undisputed 2009 game is probably one of the best fighting games out there in the market besides WWE's wrestling game series. UFC consists of a series of regular pay-per-view event fights that have two men fighting against each other in a full mixed-martial-arts combat inside an eight-sided ring known as the octagon. The UFC attracts a number of top fighters, and most of the fighters affiliated with it, like Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir, Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell and Georges St-Pierre to name a few.

In UFC 2009 you can also set up tournaments, attempt to win and defend the UFC championship title belts, and train in the game's practice mode to better your character skill set. I have played this game with my brother and his friends and let me tell you that it was quite sweet satisfaction to destroy the other person with a number of different moves, holds and strategic submissions.

You will definitely have to familiar yourself with the submission holds and techniques to successfully defeat your opponent when you are on the floor if that is your opponents area of expertise. All of your actions are governed by a health meter and a stamina meter so maintaining the proper strategic move set, combos and techniques can go along way. Though it may be quite easy to knock your opponent down you must wonder if it is the submission itself that will really take you out in the end and have your opponent victorious over you. Ground grappling can be a dangerous area for an inexperienced fighter that only knows how to punch and kick his way his out of a situation.

This game is really a step up from any of the other previous games when it comes to graphics, game controls and the strategies of your moves, and submissions. UFC 2009 has an impeccable character model and tons of full-screen, full-motion video pieces that are also included. Undisputed includes a Career mode that allows an unlimited amount of fighters to be progressed into a champion. The career mode has trainers and the game has a nice create-a-fighter and lots of training to build up your statistics nicely.

The control scheme for Undisputed is very precise and responsive to the touch of your finger extreme mashing. Everyone from general tough guy to the highly trained martial artists to former Greco-Roman champions can enter The Octagon and come out victorious. Overall I highly recommend this game when you are getting together with the guys for an extreme through down.
