UFC Undisputed 2010 Already in the Works

Robert Headley
If you have the game then you're probably well aware that UFC Undisputed is awesome and without a doubt the best mixed martial arts game ever made on any system. With all the recent success Dana White and THQ have announced that they're already working on UFC Undisputed 2010 for next year. Today we talk about some of the features and fighters that they could be adding in the next version. Since they have the game engine in place and likely will use most of the same fighters graphics they can focus more time on other areas.

One thing that I think they can add to UFC Undisputed 2010 that's missing from the recent one is fighter entrances. I know this really isn't all that necessary but would be something cool to add to the game especially the create a fighter mode. If nothing else maybe only have them as an option in certain modes and make it to where you could skip just like the introductions.

All I know is that UFC Undisputed 2010 better have guys like Matt Hamill and Clay Guida to name a few of the notable fighters missing from UFC Undisputed 2009. There are several others that would be a lock to be added like Jon Jones and Junior Dos Santos. According to the people at THQ Clay Guida was left off the game because he was gonna have to have short hair in the game because of the graphics system. It appears that he pretty much told them if his hair was gonna be short then don't even put him on the game.

I think that submissions need to be tweaked some for UFC Undisputed 2010 because they're nearly impossible against the computer especially on the higher difficulty levels. Even if you use a top notch BJJ guy like Demian Maia against someone horrible on the ground you have to really lower their stamina before you even have a chance at finishing a submission. It shouldn't be as hard when using really good guys on the ground.

The same as with submissions the standup can probably be changed a little as well in UFC Undisputed 2010. One area is knockouts because they're just too easy and too often on UFC Undisputed 2009. Flash knockouts are very cool but not when they happen every four or five fights very early in the first round. I realized this when doing the classic fights challenges and found out how hard it was to actually make it to the 2nd or 3rd round without knocking out your opponent when using guys like Anderson Silva or Georges St. Pierre.

The career mode is where they can improve with leaps and bounds on UFC Undisputed 2010. Don't get me wrong the current version of UFC Undisputed has a very cool career mode without a doubt. However there are several things that could be much better for next year. One of those things is making the career length vary according to the fighters age. On there right now it makes you stop after 7 years regardless of all the variables. It makes no sense when you create a guy that's 20 years old and they make him retire when he is 27 and tell him he is too old to continue anymore as a fighter.

Another area where the career mode could be improved for UFC Undisputed 2010 is fighter camps. You do get invites to go train at other places every so often but it would be cool to have one of those as your default camp for sparring and training as well. For example be able to get ready with Greg Jackson and have him in your corner for the fight. When you go to spar have different partners like Nate Marquardt, Rashad Evans or Keith Jardine depending on the opponent.

One final area where they could make some nice improvements to UFC Undisputed 2010 is unlockable content. This gives people a reason to keep playing the game over time. One thing that I think would be a hit is if they had videos of Arianny or Edith that were unlockable for doing certain tasks. They just need to give people more of a reason to keep playing in order to add replay value.

I guess we have to wait and see what they do differently on UFC Undisputed 2010 but I have faith in THQ. For the time being I'm just gonna enjoy the current version and try to improve on the difficult ground and submission skills. Perhaps this will become a yearly thing just like the EA sports series that have had so much success over the years. All I know is that when I went to go buy the game it was sold out nearly everywhere so that's a good sign people love the game.

many things shall be done to UFC undisputed 2010, but many reason is money and time. but things you can put in is walk in's,more of a created fighter like.
Also making all of the fighters in same graphics, some look the same as a created one. when knocking out a person you should be able to hit them still like fight night. because its not mma when you hit someone and they are out and you can keep punching them like (Silva vs Jardine) i understand the ko on the ground but not standing up. MMA is coming and we need that to drop.

they should make it to where you can do catch weight bouts i would like to play with some guys from different weight classes and make the cuts more realistic

  • me 212/13/2009

they should have like the ultimate fighter in the game where you have to go through the house to win.

I actually agree with putting wes sims on the game. he was right when he said the ufc needs a couple villans. what do u guys think about having him on the gam.also u should be able to fight against the cage like couture does.

There should be some type of g.m. mode like off of the older WWE video games and be able plan what fights you want and such.

    They have to add...
    Fighting on the cage.
The ability to continue hitting a guy after they get knocked out on they're feet (and also be able to follow through with shots on the ground until the ref pulls you off)
When guys get knocked out on the game, they all look like they're dead. That aint realistic.
Leg kicks gotta do damage, like weaken punching power and create a limping apponent.

one thing they need to add to the game to make the career mode better is that the only way you can unlock the good ufc fighter is to get those cred. points. I think that it will give more people the ambition to play and have a purpose in the game, though it is fun just to straight up fight, it will be more of a challenge.

I forgot to put this but it's bulls$#t when your kicking the crap outta someone online and out of nowhere they just submit you or they turn there s#@t off and the fight doesn't count

  • cody12/1/2009

i liked undisputed 09 but they need to change the submissions because not everyone is not a button masher and I think they can make the career better
