After two weeks of UFL football, the Florida Tuskers are without question the best team in the league. The Tuskers won those two games by a combined 36 points and, well, neither game was really all that close. In the first game of the UFL season, Florida outscored New York 35-3 in the final three quarters and won 35-13. The Tuskers then gave up a meaningless score last week near the end of the game against Las Vegas en route to a 29-15 victory.
Current UFL Offensive MVP and future Cleveland Browns quarterback Brooks Bollinger has been fantastic in two games for the Tuskers. Bollinger has completed 44 of 58 pass attempts for 535 yards and seven touchdowns. Bollinger has also only throw one interception in two UFL games.
Taye Biddle leads the Tuskers in receptions with nine catches, 145 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Chas Gessner and Frank Murphy are tied with seven receptions and both have two receiving touchdowns. Tatum Bell leads the Florida running game, averaging 4.7 yards a carry (123 yards on 26 carries) for the Tuskers.
As a team, Florida leads in practically every meaningful category. The Tuskers lead the UFL in total yards (by 150 yards), third down conversions, first downs and time of possession.
Not much good news for the Redwoods when you look at Florida's defense. The Tuskers lead the UFL in sacks (seven), which is even scarier for California when you look at the offense of the Redwoods. California is second to last in total yards, first downs and time of possession.
Why are Florida's sacks such a scary thing for California, you ask? The Redwoods don't really have a quarterback. The combination of Mike McMahon and Shane Boyd have made for the worst passing offense in the UFL over the first two games of the season. California's best offensive weapon is running back Cory Ross, who has rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns on 38 carries.
Don't expect California's pass defense to stop Brooks Bollinger on Thursday. As a team, the Redwoods have accumulated one sack and one interception in two football games.
Prediction
The more I see of the Florida Tuskers, the more I'm convinced the St. Louis Rams should be sent to the UFL and the Tuskers should join the NFL. I cannot see California going into Florida and handing the Tuskers their first defeat. Expect Bollinger to continue his MVP performance, probably throwing for three touchdowns.
Florida 31
California 17

Post a CommentWhile I am confident that the mighty redwoods will show their true colors in this colossal match up, I cant help but be a little concerned with a trip to the East Coast. Who knows what kind of travel arrangement are lined up for the mighty warriors representing our great state. Also the west to east travel historically has not bode well for our teams.
ohhhhhh what can I do, it's all about a family and how we roll
Can I get a witness not enough fool
We livin our lives to eternal our souls ay o ayo.
Dave, agreed. However, the Redwoods need a decent TE to help out their "check-down" offense against the Tuskers. A guy named Celek has been dominant and would improve any team right now.
i really love the in depth analysis: "California is second to last in total yards, first downs and time of possession." Good thing there are only four teams in the league, and they've played two games. sounds like dave is DTF Zac.
How much did the Tuskers pay you to write this piece of garbage? Brooks Bollinger probably cut out the "future Cleveland Browns" section and taped it to his mirror so he can wake up every morning and temporarily forget how much he SUCKS. Meanwhile Mike McMahon will wake up between two of Orlando's finest tomorrow and open up the paper to read "MCMAHON'S 9 TD PASSES LEAD REDWOODS TO 91-0 ROMP OVER TUSKERS; BOLLINGER THROWS 7 INTS IN FIRST REAL COMPETITION; DREAMS OF BEING THIRD STRINGER FOR PATHETIC CLEVELAND BROWNS FADING FAST; TUSKERS' BIG 150-YARD LEAD IN TOTAL YARDAGE EVAPORATES IN FIRST MINUTE OF GAME, NOW TRAIL BY 875" Yes, it will be a long headline, but yes, there will be that much to talk about after this BEATDOWN.
