UFO Series - Alabama

The Portland Journal
Issue Two: Alabama - One question seems to be on a lot of lips when it comes to UFO sightings, and the study thereof; "Is it a hoax?" I think hoaxers are part and parcel to a lot of subject which involve the bizarre, supernatural or unearthly. There will always be those that wish to seek a little attention or intentionally seek to debunk the work of true believers. The genuine concern with hoaxers is that it discredits those that have genuine encounters, or believe to have had genuine encounters.

With computer technology jumping light years in graphics capabilities, there is no shortage of budding Steven Spielberg's, admittedly is making it harder to sort out the genuine reports and the false footage.

This brings me to a UFO report from the State of Alabama. An event happened there on the 9th of January 2009 at 9 a.m.

You'd be forgiven at first glance of the report in feeling that the sighting was hoaxed. Within the first couple of sentences it reads; "I saw a stationary 747 or 737 passenger plane parked in the sky about 100 feet above a field just to the right side of the road."

I have to admit I thought something was a little fishy with what this lady was writing in her report. Even more so when I read the next line; "I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me at first because the car was in motion and I was definitely driving towards the nose of the plane, but as I got closer I realized that it was truly just sitting there parked in the sky."

Apparently by the side of what looked like a passenger plane was an orb hovering that reflected the sky within its spherical shape.

It is also stated in the report that it is not the first time the object or something similar had been seen in another State. In the year 2000 in Texas the same family saw a 737 type craft, that time witnessed by three people.

I realize that lightning does not strike twice very often, but what if they did see the same object?

What gives the sighting more of an air of credibility is that 'National UFO Reporting Center' (NUFORC) is in possession of some images of a craft with swept back type wings taken by the female witness. These are currently being studied at a photographic laboratory.

The witness has also been interviewed and apparently is credible, which I know sounds a little trusting of me. The fact that a credible study group, such as NUFORC, who have taken a keen interest in the case gives the report a bit of an edge when it comes to accurate evidence.
