If you just happened to be in Stephenville, Texas or its surrounding areas during the evening hours of Tuesday, January 8, you too might have been lucky enough to have seen the bright, unexplainable lights in the evening sky.
According to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), the first report of the mysterious lights came from two men who were at the home of another in Selden, Texas, "watching the sunset..." when the sightings occurred. They reported two separate sightings, the second coming about ten minutes after the first. During the second sighting, the men reported that the lights were being followed by F16s.
To a staff writer at the local newspaper, Stephenville Empire-Tribune, the men reported that the lights flashed like strobe lights, were about 3,500 feet in the air, moved at the speed of about 3,000 miles per hour, and changed configuration ruling out the possibility that the lights were attached to a normal aircraft. On the NUFORC web site, the men reported that the lights were ½ mile apart at one end and a mile apart at the other end, and the military jets were at this angle and that angle and took off, "FULL throttle." Reading the report left me confused, disoriented, and a bit nauseated.
Most of the above estimations came from one of the men who has been a private pilot for 30 years, supposedly making him a more credible witness and more experienced with judging air speeds and distances. He reported that the flight duration was approximately 3 minutes. I am not a pilot, so I need a better understanding of how any craft only 3,500 off the ground and traveling at a speed of 3,000 mph is in view for 3 minutes.
Curiously, the private pilot was kind enough to supply his phone number and business address for the article published in the Stephenville Empire-Tribune.
Since the first article appeared January 10, 2008, in the Stephenville Empire-Tribune, several other area residents have come forward with eyewitness accounts of their own. Most reports described mysterious lights that moved in mysterious ways but created no sound as they traversed the evening sky.

If you just happened to be at Chicago's O'Hare Airport during the early evening hours of Tuesday, November 7, 2006, you too might have been lucky enough to have seen the metallic looking, disc-shaped object that hovered for some time over the airport, specifically over gate C17.
About a dozen airport workers reported the object to their supervisors, to the FAA, and then to NUFORC. According to the eyewitnesses, the object was stationary for approximately 2minutes before punching a hole of clear sky in the thick cloud cover. A normal aircraft would have sliced threw the clouds without disturbing their formation.
The FAA reported that there was nothing spotted on radar, and as of the last reports dated January 4, 2007, the FAA and the airline involved deny the incident occurred. As with most UFO reports, the sightings were explained as either light phenomenon or weather phenomenon.

If you just happened to be in Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, or Alaska during the evening hours of Tuesday, November 28, 2006, you too might have been lucky enough to have seen the peculiar green lights moving across those states' skies.
Several eyewitnesses reported what was described as blue-green lights moving below the cloud cover and visible for approximately a minute. The first reports of the mysterious unidentified flying lights (UFL) came in from a couple in Kentucky followed by several reports from the other 5 states seeming to describe the same event.
According to NUFORC, one witness claims that government agencies, both state and federal, blocked off a large area in Columbus, Georgia to undertake a recovery operation. Although the witness claimed to have evidence to back his claims, no more has been reported about the blue-green sightings or the supposed recovery efforts since December 7, 2006.
Conclusion
By the very meaning of the words unidentified flying object UFOs exist. NUFORC's own website and reporting processes prove the existence of UFOs beyond a shadow of a doubt. The objects that seem to fly through the air and that are not readily identifiable will remain unidentifiable because every logical explanation offered by credible sources, such as state and federal agencies, will be rejected by NUFORC and other such organizations.
As far as I can tell, none of the reports sent to the NUFORC website are investigated. NUFORC posts all reports of UFO sightings on its website without discretion and without investigation while claiming to be, "Dedicated to the Collection and Dissemination of Objective UFO Data." The objectionable word in that claim being the word "objective." Without investigation, the collection and dissemination of such data cannot be objective and could be considered by some to be irresponsible.
The Stephenville sightings will get press for a week or two until they are forgotten just as the O'Hare Airport metallic discs and the mysterious blue-green lights seen from six states were forgotten.
However, it is interesting how many UFOs and UFLs are reported on Tuesday evenings.
