Ugly Betty's Season Premier

If you haven't been watching the Thursday night ABC hit "Ugly Betty", then either you have a social life as outrageous as all of its characters. Or you, like big brother/sister Alex, are in a coma.

What a fantastic start to season 2. Wilhelmina gets punched in the face, Amanda thinks Bradford Meade may be her dad, Justin gets to intern at MODE, and yes, as painful as it sounds, Santos died. But the real juicy part to this new season was Henry's return. I personally hope the Henry/Betty sage gets draw out for at least another year. It's going to take at least that long to know if the crazy little hussy, Charlie, is actually pregnant.

My dedication to Ugly Betty came with the realization that I AM UGLY BETTY.

America Ferrer's performance as the multi-tasking, super admin-assistant to the Editor-and-Chief of one of New York's top fashion magazines is a feather in the hat for all girls who have dynamic skills, great work ethic and are totally dedicated to making a difference in the world. The saddest part about Betty is that she is an incredibly beautiful girl, just not polished. That's not a minor detail in the world of fashion.

Betty finds herself being the bridge to most of the madness in her building. Most of which bares a hazy contrast to Latin soap opera's (Telenovelas).

These characters may be a bit over the top. But if you watch Ugly Betty you will recognize the characters personalities are those of people you know personally.

Bradford Meade (Alan Dale) - A business mogul who is more concerned with his company and social status than his family.

Claire Meade (Judith Light) - Neglected wife of Bradford who finds the comfort of a bottle of hooch more relaxing than the reality of the mess that is her real life.

Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius) - Playboy son and potential heir to the Meade fortune. He has learned impulse control, compassion and how to be a friend all due to Betty's influence.

Alexis Meade (RebeccaRomijn)- Once the overly competitive brother to Daniel, now the vindictive sister. I believe this season is going to be hilarious now that Alexis has awaken from a coma not realizing she is a she . . . rather, she thinks she is still Alex Meade; Daniel's brother. Apparently the coma screwed something up, now she thinks she is he again.

Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams) - Once a model then Director of Fashion for Meade, now a money grubbing, crazy woman who is trying her best to capitalize on the fact that Claire Meade has been incarcerated for murder. This is "Willie's" opportunity to get her paws on the Meade money. She plans to do that by either marrying Bradford or getting Claire to sign over her rights to MODE. Either way, Wilhelmina is HWIC (Head Witch in Charge) and her evil streak will keep her in the Meade mix for a long time to come.

Amanda (BeckyNewton) - Once the office slut (and proud of it) she now has the task of finding out who her real dad is now that she has discovered her biological mother is the woman Claire Meade killed (for having a long term affair with Bradford) and that her adoptive parents are hosts of swing parties with people they have met on-line.

Marc (Michael Urie) - Amanda's best friend and Wilhelmina's right arm. Marc is to Willie what Betty is to Daniel. Difference being, Marc is gay and stylish and Betty; not so much (of either).

Christina (Ashley Jensen) - Is the house seamstress for MODE magazine and Betty's sounding board. I'm certain she knows where the bodies (if there are any) are hidden. She's just holding onto that knowledge as a trump card.

Hilda Suarez (Ana OrtizSantos, was buying Justin a gift at the same time a robber was holding up a liquor store. Bada Boom Bada Bam! Santos gets shot and dies. AND I THINK THAT SUCKS BECAUSE SHE WANTED THAT MAN!!!! JUSTIN WAS JUST BONDING WITH HIS DAD!!! WHY?! WHY?! WHY?!) - Betty's gorgeous older sister who has every ounce of confidence Betty lacks. Unfortunately her one true love,

Justin Suarez (Mark Indelicato ) - Betty's totally fashionable nephew who happens to love show tunes and knows everything about Coco Chanel. Justin has a flare for fashion and very well could be a little Kenneth Cole in the making.

Ignacio Suarez (Tony PlanaMexico due to his paperwork being turned down for citizenship. He is going to have a mess on his hands when he gets back!) - Betty's dad and the heartbeat of the Suarez family is stuck in

Henry Grubstick (Christopher Gorham) - The beam in Betty's eye. He is nerdy-handsome, attentive, compassionate and has four eyes. Basically, he's the male equal of Betty. Unfortunately he now has to deal with his (possibly) pregnant girlfriend.

Betty Suarez (America Ferrera) - In every office building in America there is at least one person who has most of the answers, is willing to go that extra mile, will take one for the team and will leave everyone dumbfounded with their ability to multi-task and maintain a semblance of decorum during the peak of all hell breaking out. That is Ugly Betty. If you saw Working Girl, you know Betty. If you saw, Take This Job and Shove It, you know Betty. If you saw The Devil Wears Prada, you know Betty. If you haven't watched Ugly Betty, you don't know what you're missing.
