UISG Election

Choose "L" in This Election

Ryan Kopf
The UISG election at the University of Iowa is nearly here, and we have a choice to make in this election. The choice is between strong leadership mixed with new ideas and proven advocacy, versus more of the same folk. This election, you should choose to vote for L (Ryan L. Kopf & Gary T. Ohrt), and make the election meaningful.

The candidates in the L party understand that this election is important. Our University is facing budget cuts across the board. Students have needs that must be attended too. Strong leadership and student advocacy is needed now more than ever, and we need leaders that we can believe in.

If you choose to cast your vote for L in this election, we pledge to bring true student advocacy to the University of Iowa Student government. We will work to improve safety on campus by fixing the blue light emergency poles that were damaged in the flood. We will fight to give students real input on the issues through open-ended polls and consistent communication. We will also make student government open and accountable by posting everything online for public inspection, and giving you insight on our latest agenda's by blogging consistently about UISG. We will advance technology at the University of Iowa by promoting Open Source software, and working to use technology to increase effeciency wherever possible.

Our platform is strong, and meaningful. We have dozens of ideas, and we know how to advocate for students. As Executive Director for Associated Residence Halls, I have worked with great people to advocate for students. In addition, I am on the board of directors of a local not-for-profit, the Mindbridge Foundation, President of the Open Source University Meetup, and more. My running mate has also shown his leadership skills throughout his life.

I ask you, even encourage you to learn more at http://whatdoesthelstandfor.com and http://www.ryankopf.org. Then don't forget to vote on ISIS when the time comes. We hope you'll take a chance to learn more, and understand the issues, then make a decision that will benefit all of us.

  • L will work to increase safety by fixing broken blue lights and increase bus service.
  • L will create transparency in student government.
Student government has real power - they control hundreds of thousands of dollars each year that goes to student organizations, and they lobby for change that benefits the students.
