Rob Newbiggin, who is 44 years old, is married (to a woman), and is the father of 3 children, says he was born an "intersexual," meaning he cannot be classified as a man or a woman. However, from the outside, he looks 100% like a male. I hesitate, though, to say he looks like a "man," for fear of insulting all the real men out there who tend to stick to their guns when it comes to claiming their sexuality.
The reason he is intersexual can be blamed on his evidently high estrogen levels. Rob Newbiggin has stated that he wanted to be a woman since he was three years old. After going up for adoption at age four and being told by his new father he must be a man, he still dressed up like a girl and preferred girls' company... not for the same reasons most guys would.
So what does his family think of Rob's upcoming sex change? His wife has stated she will be supportive, though I can't believe she'll be quite as happy married to a first-class tranny as a fighting male boxer (my own female instincts just tend to presume this). As for the kids, well, we haven't yet heard any statements from them.
Interestingly enough, Irish boxer Michael Gomez, who will fight Newbiggin sometime this month, has said he is completely against hitting women, but "will make an exception in this case." More hilariously, he quips, "If he's confused about his sexuality now, he won't have a clue when I've finished with him."
Rob Newbiggin will join ranks with the likes of Angel McKenzie, a Russian boxing champion, who also was planning a sex change as of a month ago. Ironically, she is an adopted child as well.
Rob Newbiggin plans to become "Mercedes" Newbiggin after his sex change is complete. He has one last fight to finish before the change takes place, but he has been undergoing hormone "therapy" (a rather pathetic medical label considering the circumstances). He has applied for a license to continue boxing after the sex change, but he wants to fight as a woman. I imagine he'll have plenty of competitors willing to fight with him even more if he succeeds in securing the license.

Post a CommentRochelle,
Thank you for proving you're own stupidity. When you wrote that it is 'ironic' that both transexual boxers are adopted proves your lack of understanding in the English language. A more appropriate term would have been 'strangely enough' or 'interestingly enough'
The writer of this is without doubt biased against anyone not able to fit in her very narrow world view.
To attack someone with an affliction no matter what kind is tacky at best, did she beat up handicapped children in school?
Being a bully is not good journalism.
