Ulcerative Colitis Healing with Herbal Therapy
Ulcerative Colitis: Treatment with Herbal Therapy Versus Medications
A long as man as been around, he has used plants to try and aid him in his earthly trek.
Herbalism, or phytotherapy, is actually nothing more than traditional historic "folk remedies" handed down generation to generation. These medications have come from Greece, Egypt and France. Further, there is some evidence that Neanderthal man used plant medicines in that often discoveries with respect to him show evidence of these plants.
It appears that treatment for diabetes with insulin, or pain with codeine, comes from the way that plants attract insects for pollinating. The toxins left from this process are actually what give the plant its medicinal qualities.
One bizarre fact with respect to herbal medicine is that tobacco is an anti-inflammatory agent. In other words, people who are smokers, especially heavier smokers, are less likely to get the illness.
Fatty acids are part of herbal treatment as are fish oils, some rectally injected. The key vitamins A,C and E along with coenzyme Q10 are combatants of Ulcerative Colitis.
A medicine style called Kampo Medicine is used in Japan. Oren-Gedoku-To is one such Japanese medicine. Translating the same essential main herbal treatment to China you get the name Huang-Liang-Jie-Du-Tang and the English counterpart is Coptis Detoxifying Formula.
Does herbal medicine work all the time for everyone? Of course it isn't always successful, with some people having no luck and others have great success. The main question is what is the difference between drugs, herbs and their respective proponents?
The main difference between people who uses, say, steroids, and people who use an herbal remedy is twofold. First is the quality of patience, and second is the desire to minimize damage to the parallel organs like the liver in processing the treatment.
In using modern medicine, we have become very aware of the time it takes to treat something and essentially demand speed. Drugs give us the speed we want with respect to comfort and control.
A person who opts for herbal medicine has got to be prepared to mentally participate in the treatment and even endure a little discomfort because often herbal medicine is a repetitive process.
Herbal medicine works. I know that when I drink peppermint tea, I have relief from acute symptoms. Of course, one could make the argument that even drugs are technically herbal in that many are not truly manufactured but either derived or based on a plant design.
I would encourage you to at least investigate herbal treatment. There are usually Naturopathy stores that one can visit to get direction. It is always good to help yourself when it comes to battling Ulcerative Colitis.
