Ultimate Boot CD

The Ultimate Computer Diagnostic Tool

TechTips
Anyone who has ever worked with computers knows when a problem occurs it could be any number of things that could be causing your problem. Now the hard part is diagnosing what is actually causing your machine to have problems. Is it a hardware issue? Or is it something to do with the operating system? Your job is to figure this out, you can do it the old fashioned way, which is by guess and check, but who wants to waste their time with that when there are free tools that can make your job a million times easier.

This is where Ultimate Boot CD comes into play. Ultimate Boot CD is a powerful tool you can download and burn to a CD that helps you diagnose problems with machines. Ultimate Boot CD works with any computer that has a CD-ROM drive. You can get your own free copy at www.ultimatebootcd.com. There is a lot of great information about Ultimate Boot CD on the website as well and I suggest reading the bugs and work arounds section before getting started. The tutorials section is good to read also, it includes instructions on burning the program to a bootable CD.

Now let me tell you what Ultimate Boot CD can do for you. First you must download the program and burn the ISO image file to a CD. Then put the CD into any machine with a problem, make sure that the computer BIOS is set to boot to CD-ROM first. The tool will open in a Graphical User Interface that is fairly simple to use even for less advanced users.

You get 10 options in the first Ultimate Boot CD work interface. These options are as follows, Main board Tools, for finding problems with your motherboard and components associated with it. Hard disk tools, for diagnosing problems with your hard drives, such as bad sectors or possibly issues with drivers. File system tools will help you to diagnose problems with your Operating system. User-defined tools are something I haven't worked with but if it's on Ultimate Boot CD it is useful!

Next you have Dos/Linux boot disks which are there to help you create boot disks that include dos or Linux drivers which can be a great tool for anyone trying to deploy an image over a network and need to create many different types of dos boot disks for multiple machines. Also the fact that the program includes anything to do with Linux amazes me, a great addition to Ultimate Boot CD.

The next two tools are used to boot your hard drives and can be helpful for anyone running multiple platform machines. You can check to see if a drive will boot and you can choose which one you want to boot to and work on.

Ultimate Boot CD is the all around tool for anyone with a computer problem. It can help you diagnose so many issues in so little time. The Random Access Memory test is amazing and tests more thoroughly then any RAM test I have ever seen. It tests 8 different ways to check and see if memory is good or bad. It is a little long and might be a tad much but at least you know if your RAM passes the test its some damn good RAM.

The hard drive tools included with Ultimate Boot CD are awesome as well, they have tools specific to each type of hard drive. I haven't found a hard drive that isn't in their list of possibles; to test and work on. The tools are different for each type of hard drive and they work very well, so far I have used it on a Seagate, Western Digital, and Fujitsu. All were in Ultimate Boot CD and all had useful tools.

Well I have done enough preaching about Ultimate Boot CD, go get your own copy and test it out for yourself. You will love Ultimate Boot CD and will be using it all the time. Ultimate Boot CD is going to save you time and head aches; I hope you find Ultimate Boot CD as useful as I have.

Make sure to keep programs like this free, think about giving a donation on their page. They work hard to help us out and save us time and money, so think about giving a couple of bucks, this program is worth that at least.

  • You cant find another diagnostic CD with this many different tools.
  • This is a totally free program!
  • You can use it on nearly any machine with a CD-ROM drive.
The programmer decided to make the program after he had trouble running DFT (Drive Fitness Test) on a floppyless machine. He emailed IBM technical support and asked them if it was possible to boot DFT from a CD, and the answer he got was "no". So he set out to prove them wrong and ended up creating Ultimate Boot CD.

Ultimate Boot CD is junk. I copied it from their official website, and tried and burned it to a new disk with several different disk-burning softwares. I have used these disk burning software before so I know they work. I have a Windows XP on a Sony notebook. I ran the disk on my computer and all it does is that it connects to the Internet and sends my computer data to the Ultimate Boot website. It takes me to their website and that is ALL that it does. I ran it from a CD on the boot up, and from the CD in Windows, all I got was their website and a massage from my computer warning me that my personal data is being hijacked and shipped to some one in the Internet using some kind of active content software. Other than sending my data and showing me their webpage on my screen, it did absolutely nothing of any sort that I am aware of! Originally I just wanted to create a new partition, which I did not get to do. Oh yes, my computer was fine before, but now its acting kind of funny

Good article, but Linux has had similar boot-CDs for long time now. Knoppix was one of the first to see the light of day.

Windows i slowly gaining funktioality in addition to all blows and whissles.
