Ultimate Guide to Black Friday Sales Secrets

Best Websites for The Day After Thanksgiving Ads

Donna Porter
Finding timely, reliable Black Friday ads online can be almost as unnerving as the electronics section in Wal-Mart on this deal lovers day. Rumors abound, bogus Black Friday ads take flight, and locating ads is time-consuming.

Additionally, some shopping portals may choose retailers based on limited, even questionable, criteria, that is for financial gain. Albeit, this is more likely to occur for Cyber Monday sales. Often though, several shopping sites carry the same limited number of vendors.

This year, try these Black Friday sales web sites to arm you with purchase power, find local sales and lower shopping stress.

ShopLocal.com maintains a dedicated Black Friday ads section containing deals from both popular local and national retailers. Among these include favorites such as Kohl's, Circuit City, Best Buy, Home Depot, Hallmark, Zales, Sears, JCPenny's and more.

Blackfriday.gottadeal.com boasts an excellent source for Black Friday ads and year-around deals. Knowledge is power and the forum is where it's at for people in the Black Friday know. The web site itself is dedicated to handful of stores, including a top 10 list for the likes of Costco, Walgreens, Ace Hardware, Old Navy, and f.y.e.

BFads.net is a Black Friday maniac's dream with mobile phone updates and hot off the press forum posts, such as "Wal-Mart's Secret Friday Sale" referenced from a NY Times article. Store selection is rather limited but appears to be expanding readily.

Note, however, that a Black Friday sale is not always a good deal or the best price. (Check out these shopping comparison web sites in advance to be certain.)

Tips for Black Friday Sales Success

Determine your retailer or gift item preferences before Black Friday and find the Black Friday ads that best meet your interests. A combination of the following tactics works best when striving to get the scoop on Black Friday ads.

Black Friday Ads Tip: Don't Forget the Phone

Call the retailer directly and inquire if Black Friday ads will be best obtained online or off, and any other sales advice the clerk may have, such as mobile phone updates. Incidentally, charm and gratitude may work wonders with a nearly burnt-out holiday employee.

Black Friday Ads Tip: Mailing Lists Work

Visit the coveted retailer's web site in advance and locate any Black Friday sale information, via e-mail or otherwise. As for mailing lists, reputable companies will generally not send much spam and one can unsubscribe from the service as desired. If concerned, try a temporary GMail or Yahoo e-mail address when signing up for commercial e-mail.

Black Friday Ads Tip: Let Google Alert You

Try a Google Alert (http://google.com/alerts) using your favorite store name, or city, and the keyword phrase "Black Friday." This offers an automated search for new sale and Black Friday related information published online. Alternatively, try a product name and the word "sale." Add, subtract or alter Google Alert search phrases to your liking for best results.

Black Friday Ads Tip: News and Reviews

The conventional ways of searching for Black Friday ads still works. Scanning ads and articles in local publications may produce Black Friday sales gems that go otherwise unnoticed.

Final Notes on Black Friday Ads and Sales

Of course, this golden knowledge will not ease the potential physical and mental anguish of this pandemonious day . But a bit of planning and research propels your chances for winning Black Friday sales, thus making your efforts worthwhile.

If needed, acclimate yourself to shopping comparison web sites and product reviews, such as here on AC, before you buy. This results is increased Black Friday bliss and decreased buyers remorse.

Remember, Black Friday sales are not necessarily worth the strife, nevermind an altercation. Besides, if someone snatches that $29 DVD player out of your hand, there is always Cyber Monday.

Kaye: Good thing big department stores are not the only place to shop on Black Friday. One's miliage will vary via phone when obtaining Black Friday sales secrets, depending on the retailer and when you call, the earlier in the pre-season, the better.

Great article! I know I read this before, but I don't see a comment from me, so it must not have gone through. Anyhow, I think Cyber Monday is more my style, but I may hit Kohl's for Black Friday because they usually have really good deals on the kids clothing and all the stuff we get from there usually lasts a while. :-)

I worked for years as at a large department store and I can assure you that calling is a waste of time! You are talking to a person not on the floor, who's only job is to direct calls -they have no inside knowledge. They are also trained NOT t tell people over the pone of sales, mark downs etc. so the first ones to get them are their shoppers, not people just calling around.
