Ultimatum

Lisa Stanley
She is telling me truth

For my own good

Without being cruel

With my best interest at heart

I need to hear the words she speaks

I know she loves me so

She is telling me to let it go

He is not worth the tears I've cried

He is not worthy of my heart

He will only hurt me more

If I let him

I want to follow her words precise

I want to save myself

She begs me to remember

My dreams and goals

To not get lost in my own sorrow

To not lose what dreams I've built

To remember who I am

She guides me to the light of truth

I slowly make my way

I hear her words replay in my mind

I must listen and follow

Take control, take my heart back

Demand my soul returned

Sometimes, she says, an Ultimatum

Is the only thing that saves you

Sometimes you have to listen to what people say even though it can be painful to hear...well-written, Lisa.
