Ultrasuede Wrapped Votive Holders

These adorable ultrasuede wrapped votive holders look like they were purchased from a trendy home decor catalog. However, they were created for only a couple dollars each. Create several of these votive holders to arrange on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or on the center of a dinner table for a fun appeal.

For this project, you will need (per votive holder):
- One clear glass votive holder
- Soap
- Water
- Paper towels
- Ultrasuede fabric in a dark color shade
- Ultrasuede fabric in a light color shade
- Scissors
- Fabric marking pen
- Stencils with any design desired
- Krylon Spray Adhesive
- Popsicle stick
- Votive candle in a coordinating color
- Newspaper and/or a large drop cloth

To keep cleanup as simple as this craft project, cover the space in which you will be working with several sheets of newspaper and/or a large drop cloth. Wash the clear glass votive holder with soap and water. Rinse it well and then dry the glass completely with paper towels. (This step is designed to remove any stickers or dust on the glass.)

Use scissors to cut a piece of ultrasuede fabric in a dark color shade. This piece should be just large enough to be able to wrap around the exterior of the votive holder. Lay the second piece of ultrasuede fabric in a light color shade flat. Using a fabric marking pen, add a design from stencil onto the fabric. The nature of the design is up to you, but just about anything works. (For examples, consider stars, fleur de lis, monograms, hearts, silhouettes, etc.) Cut out the design using scissors.

Spray the back of the design with Krylon Spray Adhesive. Adhere the lighter colored design into the center of the darker ultrasuede fabric piece. Smooth the fabric with a popsicle stick to prevent wrinkling. Once the glue has dried completely, spray the back of the second piece with additional adhesive. Wrap the fabric around the votive holder to adhere it to the glass.

Once the glue has fully set, insert a favorite color coordinating votive candle and enjoy.

TIP: This project is great for selling online or at craft fairs! Also, consider adding additional details including rhinestones, glitter glue, plastic gems, etc. Ultrasuede fabric comes in a wide variety of colors and styles, so check your local fabric or craft supply store when designing your project.
