Ultraviolet offers audiences a fabulous fuse of futuristic set and wardrobe design that is sure to set some trends in the fashion industry. Just like Tom Cruise brought much popularity to Ray Ban sunglasses, Mila Jovanich's character has set the pace as well. With automated clothing attire and sunglasses that changes color and an Asian inspired hairstyle that I predict will soon be in high demand at hair salons.
Ultraviolet is packed with edgy special effects that is sure to have you to holding your breath multiple time before the film is over. Like all good action flicks Ultraviolet has gadgets, oh yes it does. Including gravity defying gadget that allows for a dynamic motorcycle scene. Mila Jovanich pulls off a great character that seems to be a kick butt combination of Lara Croft meets Trinity of The Matrix.
After her performance in Ultraviolet, Mila Jovanich has now proved herself to be worthy of the action superstar status. Audiences should be watching very closely to see what her next move is. I would really love to see Jovanich be offered a role with a STRONG plot coupled with sci-fi adventure. I think she would pull it off well.
The story line is simple but make no mistake about Ultraviolet is a movie lovers movie, and a DVD collection must! The film combines several ethnic influences which I thought reflected good story research and were applied in a manor to give the film a classic martial arts film flare. One key scene seemed to combine Japanese sword fighting and fire dance of the Tribal Belly Dance Underground that I have scene. EXCELLENT!
I personally enjoy movies that are based in the future. As we cannot predict what will actually take place, it's interesting for some viewers (including myself) to see what film makers come up with. Keep in mind that these type of films often leave most critics simply tearing apart these films. Not every film can be "A Space Odyssey," but I encourage this direction in film and look forward to more.
After all, being a TRUE movie lover is about enjoying the adventure the film takes you on, not criticizing it out of existance.
Ultraviolet contains a few very mild curse words, but overall I would recommend Ultraviolet as a great family movie (my seven year old LOVED IT!) and a GREAT date movie.
RATING CONCLUSION: A HOT! HOT! HOT! must see for action movie lovers NOT critics!
