Uma Calls it Quits

Mr. Anderson
Uma Thurman and her boyfriend Andre Balazs have split after a three year relationship. The couple has been on and off over the duration of their relationship.

Andre Balazs is a businessman based out of New York City. Andre's company Andre Balazs Properties owns 10 hotels in several major cities.

Thurman, 36 and Balazs, 50, began dating in late 2003. There have been a lot of rumors about the couple planning to get married in the Caribbean this summer. This isn't the first time that the actress has cut things off with Balazs. About a year ago Thurman's publicist Robert Garlock issued a statement that the relationship had ended. "Unfortunately, it is true," the statement said. "But we remain close friends."

Fall of last year however the couple was seen acting as more then just friends. There were sightings of the love birds in Copenhagen and New York. Thurman and her children live in New York, as well as her ex husband. Thurman had been married to Ethan Hawke for 6 years before she filed for divorce in 2003.

Thurman is currently working on a new movie named The Accidental Husband. She plays a radio show host who gets into some interesting situations after giving out love advice.

Uma Karuna Thurman (born April 29, 1970) is an American actress. She has been nominated for several awards, including an Oscar. Thurman acts in lead roles for many different types of films. She is best known for movies directed by Quentin Tarantino, who she is good friends with. The most popular films are Dangerous Liaisons (1988), Pulp Fiction (1994), Gattaca (1994), and two Kill Bill (2003-2004) movies.

Uma Thurman was born in Boston, Massachusetts. Robert Thurman, Uma's father, raised his children with a Buddhist upbringing. She has three siblings, all brothers. Her father worked at different Universities and the family moved fairly often. Uma grew up mostly in Amherst, Massachusetts and Woodstock, New York.

Thurman was often made fun of as a child because of her unique name and awkward bone structure. She also had very large feet, size 11. All of these factors led her to have to deal with dysmorphic disorder, a syndrome which causes a disturbed body image.

Thurman's first acting experiences were in high school plays. In a performance of The Crucible she was noticed by talent scouts and persuaded to start acting professionally. Thurman left high school for New York to start an acting career.
