Unaware

They were unaware as I walked amongst them. Their concerns were of where to drink and what to wear; but they were painfully unaware. They talked of parties and hooking-up. They dropped F-bombs with reckless abandon. They spoke sneeringly of those who were not of their social strata; but they were so very unaware.

They worshiped at the altar of the false gods "I" and "me." Each and every one was a self-anointed "Good Person" whose slot in Heaven has already been reserved, so they believed. They don't need the saving grace of Jesus Christ and in that, they are devastatingly unaware.

There has been an insidious deception afoot in 2010 and now in 2011, and these who are unaware have been lured into it by easy sex, cheap drugs, and over-produced/under-talented Rock-n-Roll. What startles this writer is how easily they fall to this beguilement. Is it just their youth? No, I don't believe that youth is the reason. The primary reason for the effortless slip and fall is that Jesus has become a non-existent word in their text messages and in their defectively-spoken lexicons. They live without reverence and lack the fear that brings wisdom.

This writer is not here to indict or criticize those who think not and know not. Sadly, these who think not and know not will be casualties in the growing Storm.

How can a child mature when their parents have yet to cease playing with toys? How can a child be prepared to stand tall in the reality of the howling, penetrating wind when parents live in a cyber-fantasy world where they are a god with a joystick? How can parents truly be ready when Jesus has been told to leave the home because he doesn't play by the rules of the game? True, He is God; but He loves us so much that He will leave if He is asked to. He has given us that choice, but too few in this simmering maelstrom care to consider the consequences of Him not being present nor do they believe that the consequences are real. He stands at the door and knocks, but if they do not invite Him in to dine He will - having been rejected - vacate that doorway with sorrow.

The snow and freezing rain are falling with increasing strength. The intensifying wind is rattling the shutters. Don't you hear the sleet tapping your windows like thousands of impatient fingers? Oil and Israel's enemies. War, the marionette president and his international masters. Dollar Bill is a dying duck and the New York money men will follow - floating in the harbor. Fire is coming to some American cities through terror and strife. Unusual weather phenomena will make us wonder where we live and what season we are in. And the shaking...

Amidst this cacophony and collage there is another sound. As the weather is growing frightful there is a knocking at the door. Do you hear it? Are you going to let Him in to dine with you?

Heavenly Father,

The hour is growing late as far too many choose to think not and know not. The Doppler radar shows the Storm system is moving rapidly and spreading like spilled milk on an empty kitchen table. Please father, shake them up enough to feel your presence. Appeal to their hearts that they will fall in love with you, while loving themselves and the temporal things of this world a little less. Father, please, the hour is growing late and this Storm promises to be furious. Please have mercy on the many who choose to think not and know not, for it is true that you would want that none shall perish.
