Unbiased Look at Giuliani

Rudolph William Louis Giuliani III

Who is Rudy Giuliani? The purpose of this article is to highlight his views without putting my opinion on them. This article is basically mentioning the facts about his views. What does he stand for? "Rudolph William Louis Giuliani III (born May 28, 1944) is an American lawyer, prosecutor, businessman, and Republicanpolitician from the state of New York." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudy_Giuliani)

Rudy wants Fiscal Discipline. This means that he wants to bring control to spending. As the NYC mayor, he ended deficits by restoring fiscal discipline, controlling spending, and cutting wasteful programs. He lowered the size of the city-funded government processes by about 20%, and this did not include the number of cops on the street and teachers in the classroom. Rudy also wants to cut taxes according to his website. As quoted by his website, "Rudy Giuliani believes winning the war on terror is the great responsibility of our generation. America cannot afford to go back to the days of playing defense, with inconsistent responses to terrorist attacks, because weakness only encourages aggression. Americans want peace. We're at war not because we want to be, but because the terrorists declared war on us - well before the attacks of September 11th. Rudy understands that freedom is going to win this war of ideas. America will win the war on terror." (http://www.joinrudy2008.com/index.php?section=2) He believes that the war on terror in Iraq must continue until terrorism is ended or the threat is reduced significantly. He mentions that pulling out without a timetable is a terrible mistake. His approach to public safety was to put more police on the streets and focus on the times of fire or emergency services responses. His response on judges, as quoted by his website, "The kind of judges he has said he would appoint are strict constructionists like Justices Scalia, Roberts and Alito - principled individuals who can be trusted to respect the Constitution as it is written, rather than attempting to legislate from the bench." (http://www.joinrudy2008.com/index.php?section=2) He is a strong supporter of choice with education. He believes that education is a great civil right.

Abortion is another issue that I would rather quote his website, "Rudy Giuliani supports reasonable restrictions on abortion such as parental notification with a judicial bypass and a ban on partial birth abortion - except when the life of the mother is at stake. He's proud that adoptions increased 66% while abortions decreased over 16% in New York City when he was Mayor. But Rudy understands that this is a deeply personal moral dilemma, and people of good conscience can disagree respectfully. Ultimately he believes that it is a decision between a woman, her doctor, her family, and her God." (http://www.joinrudy2008.com/index.php?section=2) As for marriage, his website quotes, "Rudy Giuliani believes marriage is between a man and a woman. He does not - and has never - supported gay marriage. But he believes in equal rights under law for all Americans. That's why he supports domestic partnerships that provide stability for committed partners in important legal and personal matters, while preserving the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman." (http://www.joinrudy2008.com/index.php?section=2) His Second Amendment thoughts are not clearly mentioned, but his website states, "Rudy Giuliani is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. When he was Mayor of a city suffering an average of almost 2000 murders a year, he protected people by getting illegal handguns out of the hands of criminals. As a result, shootings fell by 72% and the murder rate was cut by two-thirds. But Rudy understands that what works in New York doesn't necessarily work in Mississippi or Montana." "http://www.joinrudy2008.com/index.php?section=6" shows you a lot of things that he has said about his policies.

Bear in mind, these policies he says he has. However, there are things that he has done that are other faucets of Rudy aside from these views. He has tried to move his girlfriend in his house while being married to his wife where his children lived. He is a Mormon. He has been accused of being to forceful or authoritarian. He was also a lawyer among other things. Most of his fame came from being the mayor during 9/11/2001. However, many of the citizens of New York have mixed views about Rudy's policies. "The Prince of the City." This is another one of his titles given by his own city. Here is another side of this man. He has many actions which are hidden. This website showcases some opinions and some information about Giuliani. I don't want to feature its ideas because there is too much on the website to mention. Please view this as you would any source of media. I am not trying to attack anyone. There are positive and negative things about everyone. I am just trying to give accurate non-biased information so that you can make a choice about this candidate. "http://www.realchange.org/giuliani.htm" is another website that is contrary to his pro site. Hopefully this information has helped you take an honest look at Rudy.

This article was a strong attempt at me being neutral towards this candidate and just introducing the information. This article is not meant to affirm or deny support for Rudy. It is only an attempt to highlight the candidate and his policies on some issues.
