Unbroken

April Higney
A sheer emerald green vase, sits alone atop a shelf.

The sun shining through window blinds,

a radiating effect beneath the surface dust,

she wipes clean, handling carefully,

as it has surpassed many years.

She wonders who had passed it by,

who caught the glistening reflection in their eye,

swirled through the etched glass.

The time it must have taken to create,

embellished in floral motif,

one's heart,

to fill with the floral fragrances of love

that only nature could hold,

realized in the making of.

Textured leaves, each one different,

bringing it to life,

as it has lived beyond those who have held it,

unbroken,

of not a crack nor chip,

she caresses the notion softly along her fingertip,

and smiles quietly for all that it holds,

a treasure passed through times threshold,

hidden beneath surface dust,

as she holds it within her grasp, careful not to break,

makes her purchase.

At home upon her shelf, glistening,

filled with orchid blossoms,

graceful beauty,

the time it must have taken to create,

she realizes, feels the love,

unbroken, surpassing time

within the make.

Great impression of the appreciation we can find in even inanimate objects that then lead to thought of people and memories. I like both the imagery and the thought expressed in these words.

very pretty as usual! It is amazing how objects have seen so much of the history of our lives. Wish we could do the same.
