Uncertain Times and Faith

The purpose of this article is not to delve deeply into politics or provide the reader with an insight into the opinion of the author on this issue. Rather, its intent is to examine this issue, help us try to understand what God says about it, and use that knowledge to deal with it properly. This article will also serve as a stepping stone for a further study into this issue. At this time, there are some thoughts about it that, I believe, needs to be brought to light in order to illustrate just how serious this is and the importance of having a discussion about it. I would like to encourage our readers to provide their input after reading this article. This is the first of many in which I will publish here on www.assiciatedcontent.com that will involve the interaction of the author and the readers. Let's make each one a profitable journey.

During this time in the history of our nation, we are living in a time of uncertainty. Although there have been countless uncertain times since the founding of this country we call the United States of America, this particular period may be one of the most uncertain times we have faced so far. Many of our grandparents and great-grandparents lived during what has become known as the "Great Depression" of the 1930s. The present generations of Americans are certainly facing similar challenges, but another great challenge has been added to it: the fear of America no longer being a nation of freedom.

This fear is the result of the increased openness of the philosophies of communism, socialism, and other ideas that promote the changing of this nation into the complete opposite of what the founding fathers-George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, etc.-as well as the early pioneers intended. If they were alive today, what would they say about what is happening to this country? Would they be treated as criminals and ostracized for opposing the changes taking place as well as attempting to restore America to her true identity?

While former President Ronald Reagan was in his acting career, he, as well as others, opposed the attempts of the promoters of communism and achieved great success in preventing them from taking over the Hollywood industry. Today, these philosophies have become more widely accepted than ever before. More dangerous than in years past, they have been accepted and promoted by many leaders of this nation, whether in secret or publicly.

While much of what is happening is clearly understood, the rest remains a mystery. It has become a burden of growing fear and worry about what will ultimately happen to this country as well as how it will change our lives. What are we, as Christians, to do during this time of great uncertainty?

The answer to this vital question is found in the Scriptures. We must, first of all, put our faith and trust in our Creator. It is He who supplies our every need and knows what we need before we ask Him. He, alone, can be the source of true comfort from the troubles of this world. This does not mean that God forbids us to use each other to lean on whenever we face times of uncertainty.

This country, without a doubt, is changing before our eyes. Regardless of what these changes are and how they affect our lives, we must always remember that the world has been changing since sin came into existence through Eve, first, and then Adam. We are constantly being bombarded with all forms of temptation, whether it is gambling, stealing, foul language, divorce for any reason other than adultery, or acceptance of false doctrine.

There may come a time when the government of this nation has complete control of the people and the ruler is no longer a President, but taking the form of a dictator or similar type of power of authority. It is my belief that this not likely to happen anytime as long as Americans do not lose hope of their efforts to restore this country to what she was prior to Barack Hussein Obama took office and the changes that have been made that has resulted in a great deal of uncertainty.

When Jesus came into this world and began his ministry at a very early age, the rulers at that time made great efforts to murder Him and get rid of Christianity forever. These efforts continued after the church was established on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2. Christians were put into prison, persecuted, and even killed for preaching the gospel and that Christ is the true Savior of the world. Despite these efforts during the early years of the church, Christians departed from Jerusalem and went everywhere preaching the word of God.

While we do not see the same type of persecution in this country, it still exists in foreign countries where communistic governments (i.e. China) and Muslim nations (i.e. the Philippines) continue to find ways to stop Christians from spreading Christianity. We will deal with the subject of persecution in a later article.

To reiterate what has already been said at the beginning of this article, I wanted to simply lay a foundation to the study of the topic of uncertain times and the importance of using faith. It would be a great blessing to me if the readers could submit their thoughts, including any questions they may have. I will be checking this piece everyday and submitting my own comments as well as questions that I might want to ask.

It is my hope and prayer that this article and our study together of this topic will prove profitable and edifying and will strengthen the knowledge the readers have about what the Bible teaches about this important issue that we continue face each day. I am also open to any suggestions of topics that the readers would like for me to consider. If the readers have any ideas, they may email me directly at bimikell@yahoo.com .
