This Uncharted 2: Among Thieves video game review will help you decide whether you've really got what it takes to battle mercenaries, undergo series after series of life-threatening situations, hunt treasure, and deal with not just one, but two female comrades at your side. If you loved Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, there's no way you'll be able to live without the sequel.
The Game Plan
Before delving into the new Uncharted 2, you might want to familiarize yourself with your main objective. Nate Drake is picking up where Marco Polo left off in China several centuries ago. Your goal is to find the Cintamani Stone in the kingdom of Shambala and fight off hordes of mercenaries and ice storm monsters in the process. The movie of Drake's adventure is intertwined into the video game and provides just as much entertainment as playing the game itself. Of course, you'll be able to skip the scenes once you've seen them enough times.
New Weapons
The new Uncharted 2 video game just wouldn't be right without new weapons. When I was playing the multiplayer version of the game, I had a chance to try out the new FN-FAL, which is far superior to the AK-47, as well as a Gatling gun. In addition, you'll get to play with some RPG's, in addition to the Desert Eagle, .44 Magnum, MP-40, and other weapons you used in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
The Interface
As a project of Naughty Dog, you can look forward to state of the art graphics in the new Uncharted 2: Among Thieves video game. If you thought the first one was breathtaking, you certainly won't be disappointed with the sequel.
Uncharted 2 was designed specifically for PlayStation 3 game consoles. It is rated "T" for teen, and contains some violence (nothing too graphic), a few suggestive themes, and a peppering of language.
The Price
Although some places are selling Uncharted 2 for more than $50, right now you can purchase the new video game for $49.99 on Amazon and get free shipping to boot.
New Advantages
In this new Uncharted 2: Among Thieves video game, you'll have the option of playing the multiplayer version of the game. On the "good" side, you and your friends can choose from Chloe, Nate, Elena, Sully, and more, while on the "bad" side, you'll get to choose from various villain skins, just like in the single player version of the original game. In addition to fighting, you'll have to find a whopping 40 more treasures (100 total) than in Uncharted 1 before you can take advantage of all the game rewards.
One thing you might want to play around with, especially in multiplayer mode, is the sensitivity of the weapons. Aiming and shooting while using quick motions will help you gain an advantage over your opponents. I know when I was taking a turn at the Playstation semi there were kids half my size creaming me because they had the sensitivity on the remote turned way up. Using this strategy, they could out-aim and out-shoot me before I even knew how I got killed. This will give you a competitive advantage in either playing mode.
In multiplayer mode, it's annoying to get killed and then have to "respawn" before reentering the game interface. To prevent this from happening often, you might want to try out one of the new riot shields. While these are very effective in deflecting bullets, they do limit maneuverability, as they are incredibly heavy, so find the proper pistol (such as a Micro 9mm) that will effectively allow you to shoot while running and holding the riot shield. You'll also want to utilize any propane tanks lying around the terrain; if you don't have a grenade, these work just as well.
As one gamer so eloquently stated, if you don't buy Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, you might as well just sell your PS3. Take it from me: you need this game!
Buy the new Uncharted 2 for Christmas now before Amazon runs out of stock.
