Unclassified Homeland Security Report Links Veterans, Rightwing Extremism, Pro Life Movement and Immigration Opponents

From Freedom of Speech to Approved Speech that Frees for Pro-Life, Anti Illegal Immigration Groups?

A Homeland Security report entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment" is raising heckles. Rightfully so?

Homeland Security Report on Right Wing Extremism

An April 7, 2009 Homeland Security report on right wing extremism is unclassified and yet should not be released to the media or communicated via unsecure Internet servers - or so it states. In an effort not to break the law, a link to the report is not posted in the article. Nevertheless it is readily available on the Web, such as from the Huffington Post site.

Hair Raising Facts as Stated in the Homeland Security Report

The Homeland Security report is very clear in stating that there is currently no actual information about any rightwing terror acts that may be in the works.

Perhaps the most damning aspect of the Home Security report on right wing extremism is the definition thereof: among the usual hate groups, it specifically targets assemblies - as well as individual people - who are involved for a single cause, very specifically immigration opponents and also pro life advocates.

Another tidbit of information that has folks worried is the allusion to firearms limits and outright weapons bans. Perhaps even more questionable is the suggestion that veterans who are returning from the battle field will be easy targets for rightwing hate groups who are seeking to put muscle behind their anti government activities. The Homeland Security report cites the economic downturn, the election of the first African American president, and New World Order conspiracies as potential catalysts.

Homeland Security Report on Suspicious Activity a Blast from the Past?

While pro life supporters, veterans and anti immigration groups may rightfully decry their being lumped into a group of potentially violent dissidents, it is noteworthy that this kind of Homeland Security report is by no means an isolated incident. Back in 2001 there was the report entitled "Left Wing Extremism: The Current Threat." Since this report is available without restriction, a direct link is included in this article.

This report points to black liberation activities, urban dwellers of minority descent, professionals such as teachers and social workers, Marxists, government employees, and foreign nationals not in step with American national ideals.

It would be foolish to disregard the threat of right wing extremism, just as it would have been foolish to disregard the threat of left wing extremism. Nevertheless, a Homeland Security report that exclusively focuses on one group - rather than both - is sure to provoke criticism rather than unite a people for the country's safety.

As a person who is anti-abortion, I take offense to the DHS report.

    Can you even believe this????

As someone who had a career in gov't, I have a somewhat diff. perspective. I hate sanitized reports. So this report has some info in it that is not politically correct, that some people may disagree with- let them speak out and disagree, that's what "democracy" (aka a republic) is all about.

This makes the Catholic Church right wing extremists, but just like left wing supporters - fringe people and groups turn beliefs into criminal actions. How can these people be terrorists when we can't even use the word terrorist anymore. The biggest terrorists in this company is the government.

What concerns me most is this statement: "rightwing extremist ideology are the most dangerous domestic terrorism threat." Google "Terrorist training camps in the U.S." and see who's operating them. If DHS (and Congress) think the biggest threat is the rightwing, that implies they know nothing about Jihadist camps right here in America!?? How can we ask foreign countries like Pakistan to shut down their camps when we allow them to continue operating on our own soil? How can we call the "greatest" threat rightwing Americans when the report is full of speculation on what "may" or "could" increase recruitment, while Jihadist camps are operating in full swing across the nation? How can they afford the effort to worry about what "may" be when they should be countering know threats right here on U.S. soil?

I've written all of my representatives expressing my concern over the Islamic training camps. I suggest everyone reading this do the same. Our nation's resources should be directed towar

    Good points.

*shakes head* and wonders... is ACORN listed as an extremist group? Leftwingers can run pretty extreme, but perhaps they don't factor in since the prez is a democrat. This smacks of McCarthyism.
