Uncontrollable Emotions

Edna Horton

Uncontrollable emotion

It grips your soul

With fingers so icy cold

They cut you through

To the quick

Makes your heart feel

Like it wont get over it

Its feelings of remorse, pity, guilt

Making you feel things

You don't want to feel

Making horrible things seem all to real

You squirm, yell, and scream

As the waves of this

Tumultuous emotion filled ocean

Pound your heart to bits

Making you feel as if you deserve it

Making you feel suicidal, unhopeful, mad

Making you feel sad

The tide never ebbs

Or flows just keeps crashing

Into your soul

Stays just below the surface

Giving you enough strength

To just cover it

Then one night as you are relaxing

The waves come crashing out

Cascading over your cheeks

In the form of tears

Like a thunderstorm they run down

Your face

Making you think I have to get out

Of this place

This place I call my life

You cant go on

You think

You cant go on

Then....

As quickly as they began

The waves recede again

Icy cold ebbing and flowing

Just under the skin

You are calm peaceful

Better than ever

You see a shining light on the horizon

As it guides you on you think

Now that wasn't so bad

And you feel glad

But all the time knowing

That just beneath the skin

The cold water is there

Waiting to flow out of you again
