Everyone deals with jealousy at some point in time. There are various things you can to do to help you manage your jealous feelings. Many people feel that jealousy can turn to hatred if left to fester over a long time period. These tips will help guide you through your jealousy phase before it gets out of hand.

Control is a very important factor. You will need to learn to control yourself and your actions. Being able to control your own thoughts and emotion will help you avoid being jealous. Identify what is causing you to become jealous and ask yourself why you are jealous of this situation. By knowing why a situation is causing you to be jealous can help you understand and overcome your jealous tendencies.

Boosting your self esteem will also help you curb jealous tendencies. Most people with extreme jealousy issues have low self esteem. Feeling good about yourself keeps you from feeling jealous about other person's abilities. If your self esteem is good another person's actions will not affect you in a negative manor.

Avoid becoming a person who jumps to conclusions. Have patience to find out the truth behind matters. When jumping to conclusions this leads to an increase in jealous feelings. When you take the time to exam all sides of the situation you give yourself the much needed time to calm down and avoid jealous feelings. When you assume that something is the way it is usually you come to find out that your completely wrong.

Communication goes a long way. People tend to get jealous over situations they do not fully know the standing or truth behind. Discussing your feelings and getting to the root of the problem helps avoid jealousy and clears your doubts about what you may feel is going on.

Lastly, stop comparing yourself to other people. Focus on the positive aspects of your life and concentrate on those. Keep in mind that everyone is different, has different things and does things differently. Everyone makes mistakes and has different accomplishments in life. Every person shares the same things, regrets in life, mistakes, bad qualities etc. Nobody is perfect so while you're spending time being jealous of someone that someone may be wasting time being jealous of someone else.
