Convenience, processed and prepared foods are among several factors that have lead to the growing unhealthy diet concerns and increase in diabetes. People are always eating on the run and that type of lifestyle forces many people into making really bad food choices. After all why cook when you can order out at one of the fast food places.
All of our meals can be bought in boxes, frozen and some are ready-made just microwave. However all these type meals are very high in carbs, sodium and preservatives, as well as things you can't pronounce. They increase your blood glucose levels and can cause many diabetic problems.
When anyone suffers from diabetes they are told to be very aware at the things they eat and the risks their food choices pose to their blood sugars. While eating fruit normally would be a good thing for any diet, diabetics must be careful with fruits because many fruits contain a much higher sugar content than others. Fruits that are high in fiber but low in sugar are the best for diabetics and there are many good fruits to choose from.
Grapefruit is one of the most best fruits out there because it has loads of vitamins and minerals. Grapefruits belong to the citrus family and that makes it great for combating colds, viruses, and certain forms of cancer. Grapefruit reduces excess sugar in the blood and eating as little as three grapefruits a week can keep a person's blood sugar in check.
Jambul is another great fruit which has a lot of pancreatic health benefits. Jambul prevents starch from turning into sugar and helps regulate sugar in blood.
Gooseberries are rich in Vitamin C and help reduce blood glucose levels.
Uncontrolled diabetes can result in problems with many of the body's organs such as liver, kidneys and heart.
Diabetics can also eat fresh fruits like peaches, pears, strawberries, plums, grapes, bananas, apples, guava and mango. The key to eating fruits if you are diabetic is to eat them fresh without any added sugars such as the ones that are canned and to eat them early in the day so that the sugars can be rapidly expelled through the system.
Diabetics should not eat fruits before retiring to bed. Low glycemic fruits are in their natural state and if not eaten in an abundance but with moderation pose no problem for most diabetics but all diabetics should carefully monitor their blood sugars to make sure. The key to eating anything including fresh fruits and vegetables when being a diabetic is to carefully monitor your blood sugars after you have eaten and keep a journal of your sugars to get a good idea of what foods cause a reaction in your system.
