Understanding Witchcraft and the Practice of Magick

FlutterBy
Witchcraft is the practice of magic and there are many different forms of magic practiced all over the world. Wicca is a religion that has incorporated witchcraft into its belief structure but it is not the only one. Many pagan religions such as Druidism, use magic however it is rarely a requirement of the religion to be a magic practitioner. Some Wiccans and Druids practice magic and others do not. It is a personal choice.

Witchcraft has always been around in one form or another. It is the art and science of creative consciousness. Even in today's world new forms are being invented and used with success. The modern forms of magic usually consist of a reformation of past magical practices but some of the are truly unique in their own ways.

Witchcraft has been around for so long not because people are stupid and will believe anything but because it produces results when practiced the correct way. There is not a single "one size fits all" method of practicing magic but each person has to develop their own skills and then learn to utilize them successfully. Reading about magic will get you no where if you don't practice what you've learned.

The different types of witchcraft are endless. Candle magic, divination, knot magic, higher magic, kitchen witchery, green magic, thought forms - these are just a few of the different forms of witchcraft. When you first begin your magical practice its best to start with the lower forms of magic like candle magic (which is still my favorite) and then to progress to more advanced or higher forms if you want to.

Each person will have strengths and weakness to discover on their journey. Someone might be good at reading runes and horrible at candle magic or a person might be good at creating protective thought forms but horrible at any kind of divination or precognitive types of witchcraft. Its best to pick a type you feel attracted to, research it thoroughly, read credible and respected articles or books about it and then put to practice what you've learned so far. Record your results and then over time you'll be able to determine if you're happy with the results of your practice, what you need to improve on, what you're good at and/or if you should try another form altogether if you're getting no results.

There are too many people attracted to magic for the wrong reasons. You cannot expect magic to solve financial problems for you or to make a person fall head over heels in love with you. That is not what witchcraft is about. It is about creative consciousness and self discovery.

Tip
It is true that much of your magical practice can be preformed alone but at some point on your path you will need to have friends and possible guides to help you along the way.
