Undertaker Vs Kane Lighting Up WWE Smackdown

The Return of the Undertaker is Making Waves Already

The Undertaker has finally returned to WWE Smackdown and WWE fans could not be happier about it. It has been known for months that the Undertaker was taking some time off from the wrestling ring to recover and to marry his WWE sweetheart Michelle McCool. What was not known was when he might return to Smackdown. Those questions were answered on Friday, August the 27th when the Undertaker returned to make his intentions known to the Smackdown crowd.

While Undertaker was taking time off and marrying McCool, the WWE used his exit for a great beginning to a storyline with his brother, current World Heavyweight Champion Kane. Kane has spent the last couple of months accusing everyone of "leaving his brother the Undertaker in a vegetative state" due to an attack. This was the storyline as to why Undertaker was off of Smackdown programming.

After months of accusing everyone else, it was instead revealed that Kane himself had perpetrated the heinous attack on his brother. Now, the Undertaker is back to Smackdown to exact his revenge on Kane and take back what he deems to be the Holy Grail, the World Heavyweight Champion.

What makes this storyline so fun for WWE fans is that it is a classic good guy/bad guy storyline that has blurred edges. The Undertaker has long been considered a good guy even though his character and sometimes actions say otherwise. Kane has danced on both sides of the fence as well, but is now firmly entrenched as a heel against his brother. The Undertaker was popular even when he was a heel, and now his popularity is legendary.

Many WWE fans are surmising that the WWE is building towards a Wrestlemania main event between the two brothers, though that is quite a while away. It is also rumored that Kane will take away the Undertaker's long running Wrestlemania undefeated streak next year. Regardless, the two wrestlers match up quite well and always put on an entertaining match. Smackdown was becoming a bit stale over the last few months and this feud is sure to up the ante for WWE fans.

What is not entirely clear is how they are going to actually sustain this feud leading up to Wrestlemania. Wrestlemania is annually held in the spring, so the feud would have to be a year long affair. This is not something that is unheard of in wrestling, though it is unusual. Regardless, the Undertaker being back in the WWE is great for business and sure to give the brand a huge boost in ratings and attendance for house shows.

Welcome back, Undertaker. You were sorely missed on WWE programming.
