If you are an avid fan of underwater snorkelling or scuba diving you would not like missing capturing the underwater flora and fauna present in the depths of the sea. Even if you are not diving deep but enjoying surface sports like white water rafting, kayaking, or even fishing, you would like to feel secure with a waterproof camera to capture those unforgettable moments. We present here three models in different budget ranges for three different uses.

The Olympus Stylus 770W - Environment Proof

The Olympus Stylus 770SW is not only waterproof but it does not freeze at any temperature nor can it be crushed. In short, you just cannot damage it under any conditions of use. It is really tough. With a 7.1 Mega pixel lens and a 2.5 inch LCD Display, this waterproof camera belongs to the top drawer. It can be used up to thirty feet underwater, subjected to a crushing force of two hundred and twenty ponds and can also withstand the shock of being dropped from as high as five feet. You can shoot with this camera in thirty different modes, including the 'movie sound' mode. No wonder this camera packs quite a winning punch.

The Pentax Optio W20 - Value for Money

If you are looking for a low priced waterproof digital camera with some good features, this is the model. For amateur snorkellers, who limit their underwater experience to within five feet depth and also for others who want camera protection while water sporting on the surface, the Pentax Optio W20 model with a 7.0 mega pixel lens with zoom facility is a great buy. It is a great family camera for capturing those great moments of togetherness on the beach.

The Sealife DC 500 - For the Diving Professional

The Sealife DC500 waterproof digital camera is the favorite of the scuba divers who typically dive to a depth of around two hundred feet. Most underwater cameras are designed to operate at a depth of only thirty feet under water. Moreover, in these circumstances the response time of the camera is very important. You do want to capture the yawn of the underwater creature in a flash. This may very often be not possible due to the lag of the shutter in many cameras. The Sealife DC500 has a shark mode in which it captures the object of focus and remembers the range so that later pictures can be clicked and captured instantaneously with no lag time. The SealifeDC300 with 5.0 Mega pixel lens has all the other standard features of Flash, Auto focus, a 3X optical zoom and a 4X Digital Zoom besides allowing other lenses to be attached. The pictures can be viewed on a two inch LCD display. The Sealife DC500 digital waterproof camera is high on the recommended list for deep sea diving professionals.

Selecting a waterproof digital camera is never easy but you should first decide the purpose for which you want the camera and also your budget. The three models described above are very distinctly designed for specific requirements and priced in different budget ranges. It is good to prepare yourself with some research than to be talked into buying a model by a clever salesperson.
