Are you a barbecue lover? Well, if you are, then visit Underwood's B-B-Q restaurant located in Brownwood, just about 40 miles away from the heart of Texas. You can get some good eatin' here at this restaurant. Underwood's claim to fame is that they are the first local heart-healthy restaurant in Brownwood, using only the cooking oils that will not harm your heart. Too, this restaurant only uses the spices necessary to bring out the flavor in their food, rather than use spices to cover up the lack of flavor.

You can eat at Underwood's, located at 404 West Commerce, most any day or evening, except for Wednesday evenings. The owners are church-going people, and they want to give their employees the opportunity to do the same for Wednesday night services? How's that for taking care of business? Any business that takes care of its employees must surely care about their customers, too, and this business does. Underwood's makes sure that their long lines move quickly and efficiently, while serving you the best food possible.

You get your choice of meats when you get to Underwood's B-B-Q. You can eat baked chicken, barbecue baked chicken, fried chicken, chicken fried steak, sausage, ribs, chopped barbecue, or (best of all) barbecue steak that will melt in your mouth. You can get the one-meat meal or the two-meat meal; take your pick. Plus, you get all the trimmings to go with your meat(s). Yes, you can have as many vegetables as you like, plus your drink, all for one price. The price is actually based on whether you choose the one-meat meal or the two-meat meal.

Just get your meat dished out to you and move on down the serving line. You can fill your tray with bowls of Texas-style red beans, green beans, Cole slaw, mashed potatoes and gravy, and some of their signature paprika potato salad. Don't forget to eat in true Texas style by loadin' up on sliced onion and Jalapenos. After you finish stuffin' your belly with all this good Texas food, you can top it off with some Sweet Tea and homemade cobbler: peach, apple, or cherry; take your pick. Don't forget to ask for a big dollop of whipped cream to go with it.

So, if you weren't hungry when you started reading this restaurant review, you probably are now. This restaurant scores in the top 20 restaurants in Texas, and you don't know good eatin' until you eat at Underwood's in Brownwood. This restaurant is for family meals, so it is kid friendly, and you can eat here for about $10 per person. If you don't have time to stop in and eat, order some food to go through their drive-thru window and be sure to ask for plenty of napkins if you plan to eat your food on the road. Underwood's is Texas eatin' at its finest!

Looking for the beef steak recipe from Underwoods or at least the type of steak used. If I weren't in Michigan I would just visit the restaurant. Thanks
