Unemployment: Child Support Time Bomb

A new reality looms as the imploding economy is making life nearly impossible for newly unemployed parents who cannot find work but still owe child support that they cannot change by law. Once the unemployment office has you throw yourself under the proverbial child support bus, you still have to find a way to meet your expenses on a small percentage of what you used to make. The ensuing panic is supposed to sustain you enough to get a job, any job or two or three if you can. You see, once the unemployed victim is pressed into eternal servitude, child support doesn't change in most states, but can only take a certain majority percentage depending on the state. This 'merciful adjustment' usually continues to run up child support arrears, further negating the chances of coming out of financial ruin.

"Losing a job due to the bad economy is not an excuse for keeping up with obligations," you will hear. "If you lose a decent paying job, you're expected to get two or three to make the same amount of money lost." Custodial parents who previously declined child support may feel forced to seek it. Child support offices could actually see increases in claims. The unfeeling system and unsympathetic drones that run it will just keep plying their terrorism in the name of justice.

There are few replacement jobs in most areas of the nation as the real unemployment rate now tops 16% nationally. Jobs that are available often pay little above minimum wage. Many will be watching the Obama administration and Congress in hopes of some relief, perhaps through extended unemployment benefits as they shake in fear about how they will exist, much less pay for child support. You have a small piece of the national time bomb. How will I make child support payments when my unemployment checks run out?

Directly put, you won't if you aren't homeless by the time unemployment runs out. Ladies and gentlemen, you need to grow up and take care of yourself first, not last. Being a perfect gentleman or perfect lady about such matters simply allows you to throw yourself under the bus and further turn what is left of your life into chaff. The system is already working against you as it grinds you into powder. Giving it all up in hope of mercy from the system won't get you very far. The politicians weren't interested in this election topic, but knew of its' coming. Cry like a baby for your lost life and means. Not a soul will hear you except others like you and the Good Lord. Remember that next time you read or hear insane and impossible demands that you can't meet.Understand the evil in the system, seek to change it or deal with it like real people do. Refuse to cave in to evil. In God's eyes, you simply aren't responsible for what you can't fix. The world is not your responsibility. You have done all you can. That makes you free and clear in the eyes of the One that matters. Take that knowledge to heart. If you are an atheist, you probably aren't bound by such concerns. Regardless, this should be a time for healing and national concern. Unhappily, the system doesn't see it that way. It is up to you to take care of yourself until the world around you wakes up.
