Unemployment Exchanges

Some governments set up organizations for collecting information on job vacancies and on candidates aspiring for jobs. These are called "Employment Exchanges". Demands come mostly from unemployed youth. There is a registration fee and opportunities are intimated to the candidate as and when they arise. The intentions are good but implementation reveals surfeit of incompetence and unfair dealings. Two candidates, Burki and Murki, narrate their experience.

Burki: I registered with the employment exchange two years ago. I was asked to appear for an interview yesterday. The intimation card reached me only an hour before the hour of the interview. Some how I reached the office. But I learnt that a candidate had already been selected.

Murki: I registered with the exchange a year ago. I got intimation two days ago. But when I reached the office for interview I was asked a straight question by the member of the Committee,

Mr. Murki. You satisfy our requirements and qualifications. But are you prepared to exchange cash for job. Then you join. Otherwise you are out.
Murki: I opted out since I had no cash to offer.

Burki: So in both cases we are victimized. It is better to call these organizations "Unemployment Exchanges". That name suits them well. The net result is candidates registering with them remain unemployed till such time they are finally employed by the hands of Destiny.
