Icy cold morning
I was up at dawn
Frosty white covered
The dark green lawn
Car windows covered
In solid white ice
Had to scrape them for ages
Which wasn't so nice
It's still in October
Far too early I say
But the weatherman said different
For this working day
So windows scraped
Into the car I get
To find that my problems
Weren't over yet
For despite the fan
Being set on full blast
As I started to drive
The screen fogged up fast
I wiped and wiped
But it did no good
The fog came back
As thick as it could
But five minutes later
As I drove carefully along
The screen was able to clear
And the mist was all gone
Though my car is not new
It's not really old
But the heater's not great
And my feet remained cold
The vents on the floor
Point way too far back
So my poor cold feet
Remain under winter's attack
At the office it took
Two hours or more
Before my poor feet
Did finally thaw
It's October right now
And it makes me feel glum
Knowing far worse than this
Is still yet to come
So wrap up well
Get your car windows clear
And allow extra time
So the fog disappears
DRIVE CAREFULLY EVERYONE

Post a CommentYes, get out those wool socks!
Last night was even colder, or at least the frost was even harder. The sky was clear when I left for work, the moon was bright, stars were shining, and the windshield took ages to scrape. That's 2 Mondays in a row. Soon to be every morning unfortunately :(
Seems so early for frost! It was so cold last night!
We had some frost here in Ohio. Luckily my husband started my car early for me to thaw it out, because I was running late and didn't expect to have to scrape off windows.
glad we don't have much frost here in FL. I hated the Ice storms in NY the most
I saw it was -4 (24F) which is pretty bad for October. Luckily it wasn't quite a frost last night though.
I heard it was -5 down your way. Not a fave time of the year at all for me, and you've encapsulated my feelings...
good one!
We are at freezing right now. It is 2:30am and 32 degrees F. Burrrrrrr.
Good poem. It's getting colder here, too. Not quite frosty yet, but soon!
