About a month later we started to move our belongings into the house. We had ordered a bedroom set ,and living room furniture that was to be delivered in the morning.
We decided to spend the first night in our house in an extra large sleeping bag in front of the fireplace. The nights were getting cooler now and the warmth of the fire was so peaceful. Josh had his arm around me I could feel his breathing . He was in a deep sleep, he was tired from all the moving we had done the last few days. Getting our stuff from two apartments had been quite the undertaking.
I was just drifting into sleep when I heard it. It startled me awake it sounded like a baby crying. At first I thought I was just dreaming my eyes started to get bigger as I listened. It was then that I screamed when I heard something move upstairs above our heads. What's wrong Bree with an urgency in his voice.
There's someone in the house, in the nursery. Josh hurried up and threw his jeans on and went straight for the kitchen. He came back out with a butcher knife in his hand. C'mon he held out his hand, you're staying with me. We started for the stairs.
As we approached the door it sounded as if something large had been drug acrossed the floor. Josh slammed the door open and turned on the lights. There was noone there and everything seemed to be in its correct location.
It was then that I saw what Josh was staring at. The rocking chair in the corner was slowly rocking back and forth like someone had been sitting it. Josh just fluffed it off saying all old houses have noises and drafts.
We went back donstairs and I fell asleep in Josh's arms. It was the only place I felt the safest.
We got up early the next morning and I made coffee before Josh had to go to work. It was my day off. As I was getting ready to pour the coffee into the mug, I was startled by a blue butterfly that had come at me without warning. The coffee mug smashed to the ground in millions of pieces. I started to laugh at myself, still jumpy I guess.
Josh was wiping the coffee I spilled all over the floor as I was picking up the pieces of the mug. As I stood up a wave of nausea came over me and I went sideways. Josh caught me in mid air. I don't feel so good I said.
Josh sat me down in the kitchen chair and went and got a wet wash cloth and a glass of water for me. I can't leave you like this he said. I'll be fine you are gonna be late for work. He kissed me on my forehead and said I will call you later when I get time.
As he was pulling out the drive the moving man pulled in with our new furniture. After all the furniture was in place I decided to lay down for awhile. I was just starting to fall asleep when I felt something brush up against my leg. I sat up and saw movement out of the corner of my eye. Don't be silly Bree you're just overtired, I told myself.
As I started to stand up another wave of nausea hit me. This time hard. I just made it into the bathroom . I couldn't stop throwing up. I was sitting on the floor in front of the toilet when I first saw her.
Over by the stairs was this little girl with blond curly hair who looked about 4 or 5 staring at me. She put her hand out towards me, reaching for me. I stood up trying to gain my composure. The next thing I remember is just darkness sweeping over me.
